The only year Pride field a true high school A team was the 2023 class. They consistently played in the top tournament brackets and top 5 schedules per USCL. I believe 3 or 4 players on that went in on to earn Player of the Year awards. They had the talent, but Pride completely dropped the ball on recruiting. Some players did commit to good D1 programs, but that was through their efforts not Pride. Pride’s poor handling of that talented class sealed their fate as a respectable high school program. This is extremely accurate. That team had awesome talent and many of them are doing great on their college teams, but they got ZERO help with recruiting. We will never understand why KM didn't devote all her energy into that team doing well since it would have set a new standard for Pride high school, and the material was there for her. As a mom of a daughter right on their heels, I was excited for the new direction for the team. But instead, in her infinite wisdom, she let it all go to waste. Even the girls who ended up doing well would never encourage others to follow in their path, so we changed quickly. Really too bad, but agree that was the end. |
There is no need to debate this. Ask any of the moms BESIDES the moms of the top three players in each grade. See what answers you get. It will be uniform for 2024, 2025 and 2026. I rest my case. |
How does this affect team morale and chemistry? Do the favorites change from year to year? |
| Just to be clear you are referring to KJ and she is not a coach at Capital. Just noting for anyone reading based on the title of the thread. |
+1 |
And after 2024 it will only be a few 2026s that really matter. |

I work with a woman who was a Saint lax player. She did not play in college and KJ sat with her parents at her wedding.
So there’s at least one person out there who liked her. |
and one or two 2027s, maybe one 2028 and 3-5 in 2029 |
This conversation around KJ is about the dumbest thing I have ever read - My experience with her has been excellent and I have assisted her in helping kids that were never going to be a top player for her. If you are going to besmirch the ladies character, don't do it anonymously, put your name on it. Your anonymous comments say much more about your character than hers..... |
And your name is? |
I ain't crapping on anyone.... If I got a problem with you I take it to you, not an anonymous forum |
| With all of the talk on the 28 thread I did wonder if your daughter does not make Capital Blue....would everyone still agree that Orange is the next best option? |
KJ is successful. Period. Is her way of coaching old school. Yes, mother of all understatements, but 9/10 of her former players have come to understand why she did what she did. Either to prepare the girls for college play, college coaching or life. She has been in dozens of her former players weddings. She is the godmother of dozens of her former players kids. She routinely checks in on her players and not just her favorites. She goes to many of their local games. It is hard to find fault with her when viewed in perspective. Is she for everyone, absolutely not. But its hard to deny she hasn't had a net positive on her teams, her school and the clubs she founded. |
I’m not sure what people are arguing about. However, looking at CLC Orange rosters it looks like a mixed bag. So I guess a good number of players go elsewhere for A teams and you can see that with DMV players on MD A team rosters. |
