LOL. Now WHERE is this coming from? I have never heard this one and my kid has been at Navy for 4 years!

There’s a select group that have his ear of course. They want him back.

The few times I have had to get in touch with him, he has always been very responsive. He also says hi to everybody!

That’s not what I mean and you know it.

So many mommies defending him.

I don't know the guy, but people (*not pejoratively tetmed "mommies") can have varying opinions about the proper outcome; and some can understand that a person can have mant positive qualities even if he made a big, embarrassing mistake. Some people are willing to look at the balance of a person's character, history, and actions, as well as the possibility for recovery and restitution...and say that it's possible that he could come back to his job in some form.

It’s wishful thinking though. With the current climate in FCPS, and a new superintendent who has all eyes looking at her, there is no way he can come back to Navy. The error is too grave I’m afraid.

Think about it. The entire community, including some kids, have now seen his mugshot. We cannot erase that image out of our minds. Unfortunately, that is all we will see if he were to return. We can’t trust him now.

He needs to work on himself and focus on his family for a bit.

He can't the reputation is ruined and what kind of message does it send to impressionable 5th and 6th graders who will find out. I hope he gets help and he will get a new chance somewhere else.

I don't think he should return to his job but I don't know how many parents have told their child that their Principal is gone because he was driving drunk and crashed into a house. Honestly, I am not sure that my fifth grader would realize he had a new Principal if his current Principal was replaced. I don't know that he would notice. The kdis are notlikely to know the Principal is gone. If they do notice, you can say that he left for personal reasons. There is no need to tell them that he was arrested for driving drunk.

Parents will know, and that is a different story, but the kids could probably care less.

The student's know and miss him. They know because he knew each student by name and greeted him. He was kind, sensitive , a daily pressence in the lives of students. I have told my students the details. They are sad, compassionate and dissapointed that he left the scene. This has led to wonderful conversation that alcoholism is a disease no different than cancer or diabetes and that we pray that he gets well. Although we recognize why remaining Principal may not e appropriate at present we welcome him back to our lives as an educator when he is well.

You lied to your children and told them he is an alcoholic? Wow. I would have had a conversation with my children about someone making bad decisions and choices and the consequences that something like that can lead to. That seems a little more appropriate than making things up like you did.

If it talks like a duck and walks like a duck…it probably is a duck.

You're all making some BIG assumptions. You want to blame this on mental issues or a disease when it's just as likely that he made bad choices.

But what I don't understand is why people who love him would prefer to blame this on alcoholism. If he's an alcoholic then that means it's highly likely that he's been drunk at school and around your children. That he's made decisions about your children while drunk/impaired. And you STILL want him to come back to the school? I don't understand.

I don’t care if he’s an alcoholic or just made bad choices. I don’t want someone like that back at my kid’s school, period.

None. I told you already I don't know the guy.

I don't know the facts about this guy, but most people who get caught with a DWI have operated a vehicle numerous times before they are caught. Now, it may beo that this was the principal's first time driving impaired - but statistics make it unlikely.

Whatever the case, since he could have really harmed himself or others, the first priority is that he work on the problem.

This likely precludes serving in a job with a significant public profile.

People can and do come back from these kinds of things, but it is fair to expect he work on the problem first.

This is what scares me as a parent. I don’t want a principal that I can’t trust.
