Navy ES Principal Arrested

I feel like we have all been blindsided by this. It is so shocking. My emotions range from shock, sadness, and anger. We have yet to receive any updates or support as promised.

How much jail time is he going to do? I bet 10 days.

I don’t think he will get any. Maybe more along the lines of fines, community service, and attending some alcohol program.

They found out about on Thursday. It’s now Monday. What supports do you need? A grief counselor?

No, the Navy community found out about this almost a week ago on Tuesday, 9/6. It is now nearly a week later. We have yet to hear anything from our new principal or any updates from the regional principal for that matter. Gossip is rampant, kids are upset, and there is talk now of writing letters of support. There has been no plan presented to help families with emotions. The whole situation is highly disturbing and it’s been handled poorly.

What emotions are you having around this?

It’s not all about you, though, is it? There are obviously legal and professional consequences that have to be sorted out, and no one is going to issue a premature or possibly inaccurate communication just because you want one. In the interim, is the school not able to function on a daily basis with an acting principal?

Damn. The drama is running rampant. “Kids are upset.” Hell no, they are not upset. Dial it back just a wee bit.

Isn't he still in jail? The online system says "continued" for the bond hearing and there's not another date listed for a new hearing. Maybe I'm reading that wrong though. I can't imagine why he would still be in jail.

What exactly do you want them to say or do? They can’t tell us anything and you know that. The school is functioning normally and, as a Navy parent, that’s my most important concern. Any emotions my kid may have, we can address at home. I have no issue with how it’s been handled.

You must be reading it wrong. The court date is set for 10/12 and bond was on 9/6.

So you don’t think the new principal should have emailed the community to introduce himself?

But the description of him is gone.

I think it’s really easy to critique what should have been done when you’re not the one scrambling to figure it all out. I give the staff and teachers a lot of credit for holding down last week as well as they did. They were all just as shocked as parents were.
