I do not get the sense that is where Jeffries is going with this …

I’m really not sure at this point

That’s my guess.

Yet there are Dems sitting there reading nothing?? I guess they're waiting from an email from their staff with bullet points.

Sadly, Few voters outside of the Beltway care that much about Ukraine. That’s what’s jamming Dems up on this. Kind of diabolically brilliant by McCarthy.

That is exactly the staff’s job. They have already figured out what’s not there (pay freeze) and have to go line by line.

The motion was called at 1:08.

The president pro tem is clearing the floor and returning the House to order. He's asked everyone to sit or take discussions out of the chamber. Soon a vote will be called on the CR. Debate is resuming. R's have 6 min remaining. D's have 5 min remaining. So, soon.

thank you please keep posting!!!

rose de lauro says “it’s not so clean a CR”

Apparently the bill gives Congress a raise by not extending the 2009 pay freeze. It also doesn’t allow DoD to transfer existing funds to Ukraine. Not clean at all.

Gtfo. These clowns haven't done their work, are actively wasting weeks of federal resources (my shutdown planning was not a good use of my salary) and somehow their own pay made it into their bandaid bill??

It's amazing those of you still wanting to give this guy undo credit. Brilliant would have been getting his ducks in a row 2 weeks ago.

Except the Rs are in the majority and there is no house bill. So...not really even a little bit.

This to me seems just like a blame switching move by McCarthy. If Dems don't vote for this because of Ukraine - that's years of campaigning on the issue of - DEMS shut down the US government for Ukraine, GOP was trying to keep it open. Senate Dems seem to be coming out and saying that - that we can't think of Ukraine before the US. IDK where the House Dems are at. Really how many Americans care about Ukraine THAT deeply?

I guess I'll catch a quick nap and check back.

Exactly, that's why this is a Democrat shutdown.
