Thune thinks the senate could pass a clean CR! Senate is in wait-and-see mode.

They just voted whether or not to adjourn. A dem asked for 90 min to review the bill

ok. so if we escape a shutdown now, isn't it inevitable? Are the democrats really going to not have any Ukraine funding in the final budget? I don't trust republicans. no Ukraine funding in the CR they will seek to zero it out in the final budget.

If I were the democrat lawmakers, I would use border security as a bargaining chip. I'd offer to reduce Ukraine funding by 2.5 billion and increase border security funding by 2.5 billion. that would seem like a win-win.

The D caucus correctly argued that it needs more time to verify R claims it’s a clean CR. But ut is what it is at this point. They may have been caught glat footed on this.

That’s staff’s job.

What is ridiculous - is that McCarthy could've put a clean CR on the floor earlier this week. Its all a big show.

The Washington Post concedes it will be hard for some Dems to vote “no.”

Nope. Not a show.

Democrats were jammed but are now boxed in. The only thing that can derail this are the GOP extremists.

45-day stopgap measure does not include funding for Ukraine

The House will vote soon on a 45-day clean continuing resolution aimed at keeping the government open.

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) told reporters that the 45-day stopgap measure does not include funds for Kyiv’s fight against Moscow because “Ukraine has $3 billion” already. The text of the bill does include funding for disaster relief.

Since the inception of Russia’s full-scale war in Ukraine, the U.S. has unleashed a war chest worth more than $43 billion in security assistance.

It sounds like the CR does include disaster funding.
