No...it's based in Seattle.

Yup. I’m from PacNW and know people who work there. Makes you wonder why PP is so misinformed.

She is quoted as saying that the marriage was "irrevocably broken" in people magazine. To me that sounds like an affair or deep betrayal.. I am guessing a final humiliation in a very difficult marriage with a very difficult man. I wish them both well. Her especially.

Wow, did not see that coming, even more so than the divorce. The only person I figured Bill would have cheated on Melinda with was was his ex. I figured it was that he was a frustrating, workaholic spouse who ignored her and stayed until her kids turned 18. It will interesting to see what comes out.

+1

Could be she was the one who cheated, out of unhappiness and neglect. Yes, let's see what comes out.

*irretrievably broken were her words

She seems like a dynamic, interesting and down to earth person who connects with people. He seems like a bore...a brilliant bore, but a bore nonetheless.

+1 So strange how deeply sad I am.

I do work with the Gates Foundation and I’m SHOCKED.

Isn't there a DCUM megathread of celebrity divorces during Covid? I guess, sadly, this is the top of the list.

Maybe she realized he REALLY meant to leave the kids nothing, and this is a way of ensuring they will have a few million each?

I think it’s weird when the elderly divorce. What’s the point?

The point is to prioritize your own happiness, well-being and goals when you realize that doing so is difficult or even impossible within the relationship. Many people take their marriage vows quite seriously, and decide to divorce when one or both spouses are unable or unwilling to live up to their vows.

What does age have to do with it? Since you, no doubt, can imagine many reasons why people might divorce, what exactly do you think changes when those people are whatever you view as “elderly “? Not that it changes anything I’ve said, but: 56 and even 66 are not usually considered “elderly “.

I think she cheated. While normally the man seems to cheat, that blind was sure to include that women AND men can threaten a couple and go after the husband or wife. She probably found someone less intense that she connects with.

Elderly? Melinda is 56. She could still have decades of happiness with someone else. There is no reason to stay in an unhappy marriage.

I know a woman who fell in love and married for the first time in her sixties. She was happily married for fifteen years until she was widowed.

Oh no.

Blind gossip is trash. I would believe this if this were up before everyone else already knew they were splitting.

Since she filed my guess is they were spending a bunch of time together and he just got too annoying for her to deal with. He doesn’t strike me as a Bezos type because Bezos had the ridiculous Hollywood makeover before he blew everything up.

Do you think this has something to do with the patent of the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine? Does Bill Gates own that patent? Those sharp words from Melinda when filing are pretty dire.

Did one of them want to lift patent protection so vaccine could be produced cheaply by developing countries, and the other not want that?

He isn't leaving the kids nothing. The kids are well taken care of and he's doing things now like buying them property. Its all for show saying they aren't leaving it to the kids.

Bags of books?

Yes! Bags. Inside Bill’s Brain, on Netflix.
