school reopening survey asking about anti-bias/anti-racist programming

FTR, I responded no to IPL because this is quite possibly the dumbest approach to getting kids back in school I have ever seen and ZERO interest in their anti-racist programming since my kid is receiving almost zero actual math. Focus on the basics first then you can add in your social issues.

If your child is getting no math, send an email to Principal Neal. That’s concerning!

OP here - this thread really took a turn away from the original question. I didn't read all the off topic stuff, but seems like Deal is unique in asking this question. I generally believe the school had no nefarious intent in asking the question but may not have fully appreciated how some might perceive this survey when they sent it out.

Don't have funds to hire childcare for DL and are at risk of losing your job because supervising your kids' DL? Obviously you're racist because Black people have had worse.

Perfection! No one will get annoyed with this tactic! No one will start to question every single social justice policy!

Who has to supervise MS kids? That’s your first problem.

So you leave your eleven yr old on their own from 9 to 3?

Yes, she is 12 now but completely capable. She has straight As. Also when I was her age I babysat after school! An 11 year old can be pretty independent. I have a job. My job as a parent is to raise responsible, independent, and kind kids.

So you are going in to work?

Oh lots of emails and calls and zoom meetings. Admins are well aware but unable to fix it. I just figure this year is a wash.

I work remote for a SV tech company in my home office. She works in her room. Why?

Are you just trolling? This deliberate misreading seems constructed to just judge and derail.

Hardly. I have friends w 4th graders (twins) who don’t supervise DL. They take their breaks and see the clock and know when to log back in.

They aren’t left home alone but they are not managed or monitored by their parents

You’ve jumped off from a hypothetical making a different point (a mother losing her job bc of time spent looking after kids, and that getting called racist), and continue on as if the point is that you can not supervise 4th graders. Do you have an issue reading context? Is that it?
