No. What was shown was not the norm. These are the mercantile/business community people. Banias, Sindhis, Gujju Patels. Not the most polished people but very wealthy/money minded. Sima aunty caters to that group of people because she comes from that background. Did you see "Meet the Patels?" - that's the population. I thoroughly enjoyed it because I do not get the chance to peep into these kinds of peoples lives, even though I see them every day - 2 households shopping with one costco card - then driving away in their respective Mercedes. |
Yeah who are these people who think Indians live in huge joint families? Maybe back in the villages. But definitely not the norm |
Well, she is quite bitchy. And she is not very attractive, which is the only possible way she could get away with her rude and self-centered personality. I don't think it's necessary to call anyone a pig though. |

They are trying to look cool.

This is the website of the lady who had a garment business and chose later to focus on her business. |
Really cute stuff!! I might do some shopping
I really liked her. It was sweet how Sima Aunty was talking about she reminded her of herself. I do think she should have given the divorced guy another shot though, they seemed to get along well. |
| Why do these women have such bad skin? Is it diet? |
That’s what I was wondering too. Definitely doesn’t go with the idea that brown people age better. |
Pollution and very little knowledge of grooming and products. |
Most Indian women won’t wear makeup (foundation) unless there is a major function, like a wedding. Generally if they wear anything it’s a swipe of kajal, maybe lip tint. These women don’t look like the type that are focusing on beauty and finding right products. There’s is a reason why they’re single.. |
Interesting that tops and dresses are around $35 to 40. I would have thought the prices would have been a lot cheaper. |
Is there a similar US/white equivalent? Like nouveau riche? More "Real Housewives" rich than "Social Register" rich? |
Non-Indian here: Is there a reason why he needs a matchmaker for this? I would think at a certain level in society you would be meeting these women; at your store, at society functions, parties, etc. My wealthy Indian friends who have had "arranged" marriages haven't used matchmakers per se. More like the parents trade the biodatas amongst family, friends, friends of friends, etc. trying to set up their kids with others that are in their extended circle and somewhat "vetted." I would think if you are wealthy you would be a lot more socially connected and able to do some of this yourself. It seemed like Prahyuman was looking for a trophy wife, would he not know tons of women who would be down for that? It could be a "love" marriage like we see in societies around the world. He could have been more clear about that with Sima also, it was crazy to me she was trotting in these cute but not gorgeous girls from the countryside for someone like him who clearly wasn't interested. Cut to the chase, Sima- all of the compatability stuff is sort of bunk with him, he wants hot so bring him the hottest you've got. |

I was just hoping to learn how so many indian women get their hair so shiny.
I work closely with two American Indian women and they both have super shiny hair without it looking oily. I have a jew fro that NEVER looks shiny. |
