That is "free speech."

Sorry buddy, you have the right to say and do as you please, but there might be fallout from it, like having to change you college plans.

Liberty U will be happy to have you.

it works both ways he will become an even greater republican activist after this. PC culture keeps adding to Trumps foot soldiers

I didn't realize that not calling people the "n word" is now considered something only PC people do in Trump's world.

RIGHT!

Not according to his posts on social media, where he talked about "offing" all the Jews.

Does he want to kill his parents, too, then?

Last month, a classmate posted a video to Twitter of Kashuv and others messaging on a Google Doc in 2017. He wrote the n-word several times and said in one message “f the Jews” and “kill the f*n Jews.”

They were speaking privately and being outrageous, deliberately. He wasn’t being serious. I know, however, there are liberals who hate Jews and use Israel as a blanket of cover for their hatred.

So in Trumplandia it's ok to use the N word and joke about killing jews as long as it's a "joke." Got it!

If similar statements by David Hogg are uncovered, then we can test that theory. But until then, it’s nothing but rank speculation and deflection on your part because you know there’s no other way to defend Kashuv.

Huge issues with Hogg:

Seems like colleges have less of a problem with profanity than they do with blatant and extreme racist statements.

or threats of violence and death

When someone is 18 and said stupid stuff at 16 and offer no apology or reflection - that is something else entirely.
.

NP.
I'm not defending what he said at 16, but please get the facts correct. He did apologize via Twitter before this became an issue with his Harvard admission. He got outed by someone who posted the language from two years ago; he apologized; people started contacting Harvard to tell the college it should rescind; Harvard rescinded. To say he offered no apology is incorrect. Sequence of events is laid out in today's Post article.

So as long as we apologize we can threaten to kill people? If you found out your kids were going to school with someone who threatened to kill kids at the school, but that the school didn't do anything because the teen apologized would that be enough for you? What about if he later did go and kill those kids and the school said "Well he apologized." Still good?

Too much glee on this thread and the reason is this kid’s politics. I am glad at least Sidwell addresses the issue of parents trying to hurt completion getting into college. I think this kid did a lot to improve himself and the idea that he cannot get in now is just a joke. Shame on Harvard.

I've never said the N word. I've never bashed people for who they love. I've never threatened to kill people for their religion. There is regret (I broke curfew) and there is get your college admissions rescinded regret. Not the same

This is so unfair. What about freedom of speech?

Why are we living in a society where you can’t be forgiven? He was sixteen for GOD-SAKE. Imagine if everyone knew what everyone said behind closed doors. Harvard allows convicted felons in, but not a kid who said something stupid once? He apologized. Move on.

He was sixteen last year. This isn't quite out of the distant past. What if he'd gotten a D when he was 16 - should he still go to Harvard? The whole admissions process is based on what kids have done in their teen years.

Maybe when the N-word is stopped being used ENTIRELY by all cultures. In all songs, movies. Maybe when NO ONE uses it ever, maybe then we should take away admissions to colleges.

^ additionally - they asked him to give an explanation. i would imagine that if his explanation had been even remotely convincing, he's still be going. but it wasn't. and here we are.

I think it’s weak to just dismiss someone for their mistakes. Learn from it

+1 Get some perspective, he's not being sent to prison. He's just being rejected for insufficient moral character from a university that rejects thousands of qualified applicants per year.

Everyone who is alright with this should have all of their writings, going back to their mid teens, scrutinized for anything offensive.

The only way some people learn is taste their own medicine.
