Not sure who Ben Shapiro is hanging out with, but every kid I know could meet the standard of not threatening to kill people of another religion on social media.

Some ultra-conservative figures — like Ben Shapiro — have jumped to Kashuv’s defense. Shapiro wrote Monday that Harvard was setting “up an insane, cruel standard no one can possibly meet.” And CJ Pearson, another conservative activist, wrote his “heart hurts” for Kashuv.

I always find it to be fascinating how desperately the militant right wing craves validation from the academy.

There were far-right activists (including Laura Loomer and Jacob Wohl, I think) calling for Harvard to rescind the acceptance as well.

When you see the actual comments, which involve killing Jews and making a plan to shoot up the school, it’s hard to make an argument that there’s not a character issue along with the obvious judgment problem. This is how college make decisions about admissions— based on what a kid did in high school.

Nobody’s burning him at the stake. He just doesn’t get to go to Harvard. Like 99.9% of us.
