I feel bad for my kids. This country will never be the same and the American Dream will just be a dream. Unless you are a billionaire there is nothing to be happy about here. What a shame. |
I feel great for my kids. We are getting some much needed tax cuts, and hopefully this will force a reduction in spending, driving the country back towards fiscal conservative policies. Not a billionaire, but we are really glad that the country is being lead in this direction. What a joy. |
Sorry you're stupid. There are no cuts. Look at the long term. |
So you expect your kids to make $30k or less when they grow up? You really think a lot of them. Luckily all the major economists know that this new tax policy will be great for America. Yep....everyone. Jobs, jobs, and more jobs. People who will currently see a tax increase under this plan won't be in that bracket much longer. They will all thank Trump. |
Sorry you're stupid. There are cuts, look at the long term estimated growth in debt if spending is unchanged. If there were no cuts, there wouldn't be a growth in the projected debt. |
Oh, it will force a reduction in spending - that will come directly from Medicaid/Medicare and Social Security (to the extent that these can be cut through changing rules for eligibility, they will, they will). It will also come from educational grant programs and numerous other programs that help the less fortunate rise up. It will also come from deferred spending on infrastructure. Where it won't come from? The military. And will that lessen the deficit? Unlikely - because 54% of our discretionary budget is spent on the military - around $600 Billion dollars, and likely more in the future as we increasingly seek military options instead of diplomacy to solve our global problems. As for "WE" - they aren't getting tax cuts, and if they are going to grad school - good luck living a life unless you plan on supporting them into their thirties. Those tuition breaks are likely gone (of course we don't know because we don't know how the tax bill is being reconciled.) Don't see how anyone other than a plutocrat can feel great for the next generation. I just hope that they can hang on until the idiot baby boomers die off and they are able reverse the policies of their racist, elitist, all about me and mine, grandparents. |
So where will the money for "the wall" come from when taxes are cut? |
I’m pushing life in Canada for mine. Seriously. Get an affordable education there and then stay. It’s where all the smart immigrants are going. |
You clearly have not read the bill and do not understand the word "major." Major economists have come out against the bill because it has been shown that trickle down economics does not work. I find it really interesting that one of the richest men in the world--Warren Buffet--who made his wealth starting back when he invested in a pinball machine in his youth is against the policies pushed in this bill. You have your head up your a** if you think that this bill is bad for only those under $30,000. The extreme rich are getting a giant tax cut on the backs of most Americans. The majority of Americans will have less under this tax cut and will, therefore, reduce there spending. Reduced spending will lead to a contraction of the economy. People will have less money to donate to charity so charities will have less money to work with to help address issues like hunger, homelessness, disease, etc. Taxation of scholarship money will make it harder for people to stay in school. The American Dream is dying right now on Capitol Hill so the Republicans can please the Mercer's and the Koch's of the world who own them. The same way Putin owns the oligarchs in Russia. What I see is a bunch of predominantly white men doing everything in their power to make sure that the ruling class of white men will stay in place for generations to come and they are being helped along on that path by white women who have been allowed a place at the table to give cover to the old white guys. |
So much winning
http://www.crfb.org/blogs/december-legislation-could-bring-back-trillion-dollar-deficits A combination of tax cuts, sequester relief, and other changes would increase deficits to $1.05 trillion by 2019 and $1.1 trillion by 2020. |
If this is passed, next year there will be a huge influx of offshore corporate cash that will pump up the tax rolls. The Republican's will claim that proves trickle down works. Of course that will be a one time thing so they won't want anyone to know the details. |
Just in time for a Democrat to be blamed when he/she is elected President, just like with Obama and Bush's cuts. ![]() |
So we'll get details of the "trigger" sometime tonight, right before they vote.
UFB. |
There is so much wrong in this tax bill and its so disappointing. And I will directly benefit with a tax break. |
But just think, you can start your next child's college fund before they're even born! |
