Do you think Trump's tax proposal will pass?

There’s no way the Trumps have a billion dollars.

'm a Dem woman but PLEASE stop pumping Warren and Pelosi. They can never win against the MRA Jackals. America is just too dumb to handle it. They've shown us who they are. Now fight back with someone who can win over working-class white males AND their wives.

Yep. I'm another Dem woman and I totally agree. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. Unfortunately, the entrenched sexism in this country coupled with Russian meddling, lackluster charisma and a truckload of baggage resulted in Hillary Clinton being defeated by a corrupt, incompetent, mentally unstable jackass. And had Hillary been facing an experienced, capable, rational Republican like John Kasich she would have been beaten even worse. Warren and Pelosi would just be more of the same.

The first woman president will be a Republican. The Dems need to run Biden and get back in the White House.

JFC, you quitters. She got more votes. Had Russia not "thrown the election to him" she would have gotten the electoral votes, too. Let's work at getting the Russian cancer out of our government and striking back at this act of war.

I like Haley and Collins. Pallone should have gotten the DEM NJ slot in the senate over Booker. Russia didn't throw the election to Trump. Decades of factories leaving and illegal immigration ... I know some people who voted for Trump because of local issues-Obama's unaccompanied minors deposited and the direct impact on property taxes.

Too bad the Republicans don't have an adjustment to income based on how many a state/locality has to support. The Feds know where they are...no amendments offered on that by my Senators or any others.

Only 29% of Americans approve the tax plan. This is similar to how 70% of Americans wanted to keep ACA if there was no replacement. We all know how ACA repeal failed.

Not surprisingly, more Rs approve of the tax plan. If you are a R congress person in a solid red area, you would feel safe. So, I guess this is what they are banking it on.

The bill will pass. Count on it.

It looks like the conference process might result in some movement on the blue state tax increase/SALT deduction. Fingers crossed!

And what other services will they have to cut to pay for that?

I'm afraid they're going to water this down so much to make sure the upper-middle class in the tax-and-spend blue states don't go crazy that it will hardly be any different from what we have now.

They are upping the corporate tax rate. Every 1% increase in the corporate tax rate "saves" approximately $100 billion. Let that sink in for a moment.

Pretty much the ENTIRE cost of the tax bill is to fund corporate tax reductions (they are cutting the rate from 35% to 20%). That's $1.5 trillion right there. If they up the rate to 22%, that frees up $200 billion for SALT deductions.

They are truly giving the people are few crumbs. And yet they still have the temerity to bitch that "20% isn't good enough." Seriously.

You're absolutely nuts and a total liar. The shitty compromise is to allow filer to "take" $10K deduction either for property taxes or state income taxes. That's still a massive change from today. Huge. Especially in places like NY and NJ where a two income household is easily taking a combined SALT and mortgage interest deduction of nearly $50K.

The amount that the upper middle class liberals are complaining about shows what hypocrites they are. These are people earning $300.000 and $400.000, quibbling over an extra few thousand dollars.

They didn't care when the middle class, earning significantly less, was hit with massive ObamaCare premiums. All I heard was the liberal elitists (who had good employer plans) scold me that I (earning $60k)!could afford the inflated prices since the poor are getting the free plans they need. Now all of a sudden they, care about the middle class. Hypocrites.

Nope, it's the people with a combined HHI of $150K to 250K that are complaining the most. $300-400K people will see a huge savings because the tax proposal removed the AMT.

$150-250K total HHI (i.e., two working parents) in a high cost place - like CA, DC or NY - is solidly middle class. My friends who are plumbers and electricians on Long Island easily make $130K. They are NOT rich.

You realize that Texas is one of the highest tax states in the nation right? They just charge it all through property tax. They plan on making property tax deductible but not state income taxes. They are quite literally targeting blue states with this elimination while still allowing property tax deductions. You had better watch out what you wish for because eventually Congress will flip and Democrats could target red states. The country didn't used to be like this but the right-wing media has created a whole generation of people with hate in their hearts.

I am paying massive premiums with no Obamacare discount. I care about everyone that’s why I wanted single payer.
