That was LOW. He is not the victim here.

He's a joke. A low-class joke, only tolerated because he's black.

Right, he's rich and famous for being black. That aaaand the 21 grammy awards. He is extremely talented. Stop dismissing his work because you don't get it.

Are you defending the fact that he put a naked image of Taylor in his video without her consent?

I found this critique of the video to be pretty even handed: http://www.vox.com/2016/7/6/12053398/kanye-west-famous-art-exploitation

I personally come down on the side of art not exploitation. I think he is using his personal experience to make a commentary on fame and the positioning is explicitly pulled from a famous painting (ie, he didn't choose to show the women more than the men arbitrarily). I also agree with the author's point that art frequently inappropriately objectifies women, but I thought it was really provocative. I also feel like what it speaks to is extremely germane to Taylor Swift. She is someone who has created a huge veneer over herself called 'fame' that is both protective and self serving. I think if you take a moment to really think about that video you realize why Kanye is famous and why so many people think he's so talented. Portraying all those people like they are in a snuff film, like vulnerable humans, when almost all of them have been reduced to caricatures in the public eye is ACTUALLY really thought provoking.

He stepped over the line by making them naked. Why not put a tank top on them or something?

I actually think it kind of adds to the metaphor. It all just seems super vulnerable. And the idea that when it all goes away these people are real people, real bodies, real humans and society's obsession with them is actually kind of creepy. Like someone filming them sleeping naked.

But agree to disagree, art speaks differently to everyone!

If he wants to put his own d*ck out there and his wife's bare boobs on display that is his stupid decision to make. But using Taylor's nude image to promote HIMSELF is out of line. He is an ahole. And I really think that Taylor wishes he would just leave her alone.

I don't think he has complained about any crap he got for the video.

And it wasn't taylor's ACTUAL nude image, which has never gotten out. It's an interpretation. I really don't understand how you all can't see she brought this on herself with the blatant lies she told the press. If she had come out with, 'we discussed the lyrics but I didn't know he was going to call me a B and I didn't know he was going to make that video and I just ended up feeling wrong about it' then everyone would be sympathetic. But that isn't what she did. And when you lie to the public and get caught well, you reap what you sow.

Kanye is 13 years older than Taylor (she is 26). He started this with the 2009 MTV awards when Taylor was still a teenager.

I can not believe that he has now done this.

If she really wanted him to leave her alone and keep her out of everyhing, she easily could have said on the phone: "hey I have a lot of respect for you and I am so glad you asked me. I would just prefer to be kept out of the song. Thank you so much ch for asking, I would just rather not be in it." But instead she said she didn't have a problem wih either version and didn't see how anyone could say she'd be crying over the lyrics he read her. If she wanted to be kept out, she should have said so, but she didn't. She should not, after that call, use her white girl privilege to make it seem like the whole thing was a surprise to her. She played along, and she should play all innocent now, just because that's the stereotype that all her white girl fans want (and expect) to see.

(White girl here who likes Swift's music and likes her as a role model for my daughter, but not this move.)

I am a taylor fan (musically and even personally, I think she's a great model for a successful female for young girls). I am not really a Kanye fan or a KK fan (although I think a lot of people underestimate her business acumen considering the length of time she's kept her brand relevant and how she's translated it into a lot of businesses. Also all you people saying Kanye isn't talented are smoking crack, he might not be my cup of tea but he's a really stellar lyricist.

This is totally her getting caught in a lie. Everyone talking about how they're bad for recording it...wtf, you're only mad because it clearly exposes her lie and makes her look bad. TS screwed up, she should own it and apologize. She used an opportunity to make the world see that she and Kanye had gotten over their fued and then took a calculated risk by throwing him under the bus to get another round of, 'kanye stabbed TS in the back AGAIN' press. And it didn't work. And there are totally racial undertones to this, and IMO she manipulated this to seem like a sexist thing when it clearly was not which is a disservice to women everywhere who experience real sexism.

I don't know if all you defenders are just reading the transcript and not listening? Because she does NOT sound like she's trying to play nice. She sounds like a peer talking to a peer. Sorry TS, Kimye just checkmated you.

Well said. Definitely racial undertones.

Also- Taylor's Grammy speech criticized people taking credit for her success. Thats not whats she arguing now. She's upset about the the "b" word, which is silly. She calls an actress a whore one of her songs. She also continually disses her ex-BFs in her songs. Wonder if she's calling to get approval from them.

You didn't even listen to the excerpt. She heard and assented to everything except the word bitch. She was fine with the line about him having sex with her and the line about him making her famous. She is really reaching here.

He's delusional if he thinks that this song was some sort of collaboration with Taylor. Taylor never heard the song, she never saw the full lyrics, she didn't know about this garbage video..
