Anonymous wrote:Hi everybody, I wanted to wish everybody good luck, I will be in your boat in a few years, but as I was looking through all these post I couldnt help but think to myself wouldnt it be nice if all this information was tracked somewhere in a spreadsheet and then we could look at the data as a whole and try to make some judgements. (I know its geeky, but I am geeky).

So I have created the outline of a spreadsheet in google docs. Its open access to everyone, so you can input whatever you want. I have no control.

I realize that by leaving it completely open that there is the potential for abuse by people with an ax to grind, but hopefully if everyone is just truthfull, maybe we can "pierce the veil" behind the admissions process of the schools and see if there were any trends at play. i leave that to you really smart statsticians out there. Also, if you feel there are more columns of info that are needed for analysis, please add.

Fingers crossed.

I wanted people to know that our black children get rejected at the same percentage rate as other children. There may be less applying then some other race's but we ALL don't get accepted. I knew going in that it would be hard for all our children. I pray we get in somewhere decent. We live in a terrible neighborhood for public.

Did you apply for FA?

Yes. I think that was the deal breaker here.

We got accepted to Beauvoir for Pre-K, we are Black, and we requested FA... I think the AMOUNT requested is the deal breaker. We have two DD's and we are paying 70% of the tuition. We were also accepted at another GREAT school where our request for FA was granted.

We've applied a sibling to GDS and haven't heard either.

Its such a myth that diverse families are on easy street when applying to these schools. Most all of them get TONS of applications from diversity of all kinds and the process is incredibly competitive for all. I think it makes non diverse families feel better when things to work out to be able to point to kids of color or with other diversity factors getting in, but that's a complete red herring.

Here's our background: white, blond, very rich (buildings named after our family all over the place and a family foundation) AND beautiful. We wish the rest of you good luck!
