I just google mapped it and it looks like it's about 12 miles from sal's pizza in downtown mall. |
One article said it was "minutes" away -- about 3 miles. Maybe the actual Hessian Hills that the apartment is named after are 12 miles away. |
Mea culpa..google maps was giving me directions to a different sal's when I put in sals pizza Charlottesville va It is about 3 miles..the condo/apartment complex is at Georgetown Rd & Barracks Rd |
Press conference now happening at ~5 pm

I wonder iv they will still want volunteers to search for her this weekend |
Maybe they will call it off at the press conference. |
Can't they just trace her last cellphone pings ? |
They know where she was when she last used her phone. It's after that point that they are worried about. |
I think they are doing that. |
Maybe that's what led them to the apartment, who knows? |
The guy lurking in the doorway is involved. "I was following her because I wanted to help her" is about the creepiest thing I have heard of. Serial killers just hang around college towns waiting for drunk girls to be walking by themselves. |
I would love to know what colleges are doing about it if that's the case. |

Daily Mail says neighbors describe the apartment police searched as belonging to a large man in his 20s with dreadlocks. |
I went to college in an urban area and they really drummed in the "never go anywhere at night alone, " but I'm sure I still did. I just find it amazing that one drunken solo walk actually can turn into something so horrible some place like Charlottesville, and this isn't even the first time in recent years. I guess there are plenty of truly evil people around pretty much anywhere looking for their moment of opportunity.
Thanks goodness for surveillance video-- what a boon to law enforcement. |
I did as well, and our college had what we called "the drunk van" You called a number and it would come pick you up within the surrounding neighborhood. I am sure that a small town could give college students a false sense of security. That being said, it's possible she was drugged. |
