We have been blessed with great wealth, and I am happy to pay for guacamole for my children.
But I would never pay for queso. Not because of the price, but because it is vulgar. No one with any self respect would ever order queso. |
She said she didn’t want to buy the guac because she just bought avocados at Lidl that morning. PP was pointing out that this argument can be used against ever going out to eat at all. She just went grocery shopping apparently- so why are they out to eat? |
We have been blessed with three times as much wealth as you, and we eat exclusively queso. All meals. You can tell how old money and classy someone is by their aggressive consumption of foods that the new money strivers consider beneath them. You have a lot to learn, my flashy and tacky guacamole eating friend! |
Please stop the ridiculousness. People were stupidly saying “I am not going to deny my kids vegetables!” That’s like saying: “ I’m going to get gas when I need it!” “I’m going to buy a water bottle whenever I want it!” Get gas but get it cheaper with about 3 seconds of effort. Fill a reusable water bottle at home. And kids with parents who don’t frivolously spend still get avocados! Maybe not a scoopful once every 3 weeks for $3, but 5 days/week for the same price. |

| I wouldn't stop them from ordering but I think it's not great that they don't realize it costs extra. Just awareness of costs is a life skill, even if you can afford it. We don't order out very often but do treat it as a treat when we do, so we get apps and the like, and I wouldn't make them share queso in that context. Maybe if we ordered in 3x/week that would bother me more. |
They know it costs extra. It’s on a huge sign. Whatever your thoughts on guacamole, you have failed at parenting if you make $450k/yr, and you haven’t taught your children to read. |
I like that you got called out on your dumb comment and now you have to make an exaggerated example- double the cost, exact same item, no worse brand!, ability to plan ahead etc. You got my point which is why you had to make up an example like you did. Nobody is saying pay twice the amount for a worse brand. |
That might be your point. But PP came back multiple times to say kids are trying to take advantage. |
And just when you think people can't post dumber stuff... Once more for those who need it spelled out: We aren't saying our kids are Mr. Magoo walking around blind not understanding a sign above their heads at Chipotle has words which represent the menu offerings and that the dollar sign and following numbers has meaning. It is understanding that when you go somewhere, there is a cost added depending what you order: tap water versus sparkling, a la carte items, soda, guac, market price, etc. |
If you just blatantly ignore the price of something how would you even know? That's the point - look at the price before just tossing it into the cart. |
New poster: how is this an exaggerated example...people do this all the time. Buy TP, diapers, wipes, school supplies, tissues, over the counter medicine, detergent whatever...and pay more for an item because you're too lazy to have the mental focus to plan ahead. |
If the worst thing that I can say about the people who I hang out with is that they spoil their children more than I do, I'm just fine with who I see in the mirror. |
We have a seven figure annual income and a net worth that's 8 figures. I still look at prices at the grocery store simply because I think it's stupid to spend $7 on something I can buy for $3 (recent example, chocolate chips for cookies) |
