If that happens: ES 11am to 1pm or 11:25 to 1:25pm. Buses start for some more than an hour earlier that school start. Can mcps use school buses to shuttle lunch to FARMs students in inclement weather?

Like DoorDash?

Why? It's better to wait until 5am to see if it ends up being a dud.

It’s disruptive to need to wake up at 5am and then make arrangements. Much easier to deal with the night before.

I'm just so lost. Some say no chance, others say closure. SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP SO I CAN PLAN.

Sorry English is not my first language

It’s irresponsible to only put one snow day in the calendar, given the historical circumstances in which we typically have more each year.

My school district growing up had 3 school days built into the calendar. If we didn’t use them all, school let out earlier in june

Why let out early? Just slow down the last month or so and do some enrichment or fun activities.

Kids are fried. Parents start pulling them for camp and vacation.

Camps aren't going to start if there are scheduled school days left.

They did last year. My kid missed the last day of school for camp.

Sure just let us know when you convince the teacher’s union that their teachers should work 3 extra days so your kids can have some fun activities…

Well, I’ve been teaching in the county for longer than your kids have been alive and I think a delay is likely and a closure is possible based on the last advisory I saw.

School went beyond the scheduled days. The pp was describing scheduling days, then taking them away. That doesn't make any sense.

Not that poster, but there are other systems that get out early if they don’t use any snow days.

Ok, final predictions. My daughter and I have a bet going and I have no idea. 😂

And? It's a terrible system that is incredibly anti-family.

62 pages of posts across 5 threads for snow-related issues this week alone and it's only Dec. 4th.

It's going to be a looooong winter.

Families should have voted when the calendar survey came out. tsk tsk

MCPS teacher here. The calendar survey has nothing to do with the number of emergency days built into the calendar. Once MCPS started closing on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, they reduced emergency days from 2 down to 1. 2 days has never been enough, 1 is certainly not. And we do frequently use that one day before Winter Break begins.

Another teacher here. I love having the Wednesday before Thanksgiving off. I’m so glad they did that

I think delay only. They really don't want to burn that one snow day they built in this morning, and we are talking about dusting to one inch. And the inch is most likely to be down county, where roads tend to be plowed.

They better make a decision soon 😭😭🙏.
