Wow. I hope FCPS is proud of itself. What utter, incompetent, idiots.

Trans kid gets to stay according to current FCPS policy.

The latest poll shows that the governor race is edging closer. This issue could become the deciding factor.

Yeah, when the project 2025 people get a hold of it, it will be what they want the deciding factor to be. You are a fool if you believe YOU and I are deciding which issues bubble to the forefront of the race.

What are you babbling about now?

Here is a fact:
This is an issue that people understand. You cannot blame the GOP for this.

Can and did.

Also, I blame social media. If you are clueless about this topic, the book Careless People is an easy read that will explain to you how democracy is being overridden by technocrats and technology.

Thinking this is THE ISSUE that VOTERS are choosing just shows your ignorance about the influence of tech companies in our government

Wtaf. This is most definitely an issue I care about. Why can't the schools simply provide a gender-neutral bathroom/locker room for those who would prefer that? There is absolutely no need for a biological male to be in the spaces of biological girls. And people like you sound utterly nutty.

It is an issue that demonstrates that our School Boards have no common sense.

Sorry, no. The will of the few does not supersede the will of the majority.

Apparently, it does in Fairfax County Public Schools. Go read Ryan McElveen's tweet.

Correct. Much easier to accommodate the few than the many. Much like the policy of removing the kids who are behaving from a classroom when one kid is acting up.

According to Michelle Reid, the majority doesn't always dictate, right?

I wouldn't believe this if I hadn't already heard about it from friends, their daughter's entire class had to evacuate their classroom over and over due to one boy because the school wouldn't remove him. Funny thing in hindsight, I'm sure that they continued to proudly vote for the school board members who allowed this to happen despite complaining non stop.

It isn’t the school board that keeps this going. It is lawsuits. In the 1990s/2000s it was a Dateline and 60 minutes regular topic to discuss how horrible it was that staff members were physically removing SPED children from the classroom. This outrage in turn sparked lawsuits which in turn brought about a bunch of new policies that no child could be touched even if they are violent towards other kids and the “Evacuation” of the other children procedure.

It is definitely time to swing the pendulum the other way, but this is a LAW/political issue, not school board.

I agree that they should just provide a gender neutral bathroom for changing, but assure you I am not nutty. Read the book and learn. I didn’t write Careless People, but I can say that your perspective of the intersection of politics and technology will change when you read it.

excuse me? The will of the few? What makes you think that most parents agree with the Trump administration for doing this?

The number of transgender people is small, as such if accommodations are needed, they should be the one(s) making them. Trans student(s) should use the alternate facility.
