Wow. I hope FCPS is proud of itself. What utter, incompetent, idiots.

Yes, "reasonable accommodations" means the kid who doesn't want to share the locker room with the trans kid can go find another place to change.
Trans kid gets to stay according to current FCPS policy.

Sorry, no. The will of the few does not supersede the will of the majority.

excuse me? The will of the few? What makes you think that most parents agree with the Trump administration for doing this?

DP. Common sense.

All the ridiculous posts on this thread defending what Trump is doing is hardly a reflection of what the majority of fcps parents think. Wishful thinking on your part. And if you are talking about common sense, Trump is targeting trans now. Who is next? You think it stops with demonizing trans?

I am a parent of a middle school daughter and two older sons. I am not MAGA and have voted democrat for all elections (with the exception of the FCPS school board). I do not want any boys or men having the ability to say that they are trans using the same bathroom/locker room as my daughter. It is a safety issue and would be uncomfortable for most girls/women. I empathize with trans children and their parents and believe that everyone should have a safe environment and don’t think a trans “girl” who is biologically a boy would be comfortable or safe in the men’s bathroom. The only option I can think of is to install some single use unisex bathrooms that can be used by anyone.

Instead of losing federal funding, FCPS could try to work with the federal government to request additional funds to install new bathrooms in all of the high schools/middle schools in the county. The cost of installing new bathrooms would be far less than the cost of losing federal funding. Another option would be to not create any new bathrooms, but to use an already existing bathroom for a unisex bathroom.

I disagree with you entirely and I am the parent of 2 FCPS students.

I don’t like trump but his administration is right on this issue. Protect our daughters!

No the administration is protecting girls/women via existing federal law designed to protect girls/women. If students choose to transition from male to female then they should use unisex facilities during that transition. Common sense and provides safe environment for all concerned.

Again, what some are expressing on this thread should not be assumed represents the majority of parents in FCPS.

But it is. Even if they are afraid to speak up for fear of being canceled at the pool and even if they live in the cheap apartments.

While I have not seen polling specifically for Fairfax County, it is an 80-20 issue and I doubt Fairfax County is much different.

People can be compassionate about trans kids, but when their own child is confronted in a restroom, locker room, or sports, the results may be different.

Just astounding that this has to be spelled out.

Federal funds for FCPS yearly budget is 1%.
If FCPS caves in on this, it will be Prager U. teaching history like it is in Oklahoma next year.

Why don’t you just admit you don’t like LGBTQ+ students instead of the MAGA dog whistle?
Trans students are 1% of students. The percentage of those that are competitive high school female athletes is very, very small. I’m sure rules can be set up and reviewed on an individual basis,

For MAGA screaming it’s all about “what parts you are born with”, MAGA sure wanted to take away the gold medal from South African boxer Imane Khelif in 2024 saying her natural Testosterone hormone level was “too high”. Until it’s a black woman and then suddenly her having female “parts” from birth and growing up female aren’t good enough.

This is not about LGBQ. It is about kids who are trans. They have different body parts and bathrooms, locker rooms, and sports are divided in that manner.

And, we hear every day of those who are "detransitioning."

We should be compassionate, but they do not belong in sports. And, rules have not be "set up and reviewed on an individual basis." But, you know that.

You are clearly MAGA and voted for Trump.

I have a young adult daughter. She hasn’t threatened by trans women, and yes, she has known a couple.
It’s the red piller Trumpers she’s worried about. MAGA men that threaten women and want to take away their rights. Tons of MAGA men all wanting to repeal the 19th Amendment and go back to not allowing women to own property, bank accounts, go to college, serve in the military, and have full time jobs if they have children.
It’s the red piller Trumpers that feel owed sex and it’s ok to rape to get it, if they pay for a dinner date.
It’s the creepy PEDO men all over the Republican Party that have been caught tons of time with “child corn”. It’s MAGA men that want to make it legal to marry girls, and go online with how they feel justified.

Here everyday about those “detransitioning”? From who? Fox News?

Experts in International Sports have already set up hormone levels and years of those levels and start of transition based on science.
That is what I meant by on an individual basis.

And, you think you do?

What do you think the citizens of Fairfax County want? Dollars to donuts it is to comply with Title IX over the trans issue.

How transparent do you think this boundary mess has been? What about #35 in the committee lottery?

School Board hiring additional staff for themselves over school teachers?

etc.

Don’t forget 24/7 security for the FCPS superintendent.

Hon, if the voters overwhelmingly wanted what you wanted they would vote in different School Board members.

And maybe if people weren't running around threatening School superintendents, politicians, election board members, with death, maybe we went need a security guard for the superintendent?

Do we actually know that?

Yes. This is how you lot ARE.

You assassinated Democrats in Wisconsin, shot up the CDC, launched a violent insurrection on Jan 6, 2001.

Every MAGA voter, in addition to being a traitor to the country and its core values, is mentally unwell and to be assumed to be unhinged and violent.

+1000

Trump & MAGA want Northern Virginia schools to cave on this issue so other school systems fall in line. They are using fear.

Go watch the “history” videos Prager U that are now required in Oklahoma. Republicans don’t care about women. Did you read Project 2025? They want women to go back to the 1900’s. Prager U videos for elementary children in Oklahoma have sections saying “laws for different sexes is because of the fundamental differences between men and women.”
And….Christopher Columbus saying “Slavery is better than dying!”

Only time I've heard "let them die" at a School Board protest was from a left wing group.

That is such BS
