I thought Republicans supported allowing kids to make money. Look at Arkansas. Why shouldn’t kids in CA be allowed that option?

Agreed. Why can’t California follow the example of the following red states that allow children as young as 12 (or younger with parental consent) to work on farms with few restrictions?

**Iowa**, **Florida**, **Arkansas**, **Missouri**, and **Georgia** have the most permissive child labor laws for agricultural workers. These states allow children as young as 12 (or younger with parental consent) to work on farms with minimal hour restrictions and fewer protections against hazardous tasks, aligning closely with lenient federal FLSA standards. Recent laws (2022-2025) in these states have further relaxed oversight, such as removing work permit requirements or expanding allowable tasks.

Huh? Why can't they?
California DOES allow 12 year olds to work on farms. https://www.dol.gov/agencies/whd/state/child-labor/agriculture

Which makes it extra weird that Noem and ICE and MAGA are doing a lot of posturing claiming to be enforcing California child labor laws when a.) it's state and not federal jurisdiction and b.) they don't even know what the damn law is.

It was a pot farm you dork.
And, how long had they been working there? Since they were 8? 9? I guess it depends on how much they owe to the cartels.

So what if it was a pot farm? Why are you fixated on whether it was a pot farm? You seem ignorant of state laws. It is legal to farm pot in California and the farm that was raided was licensed by the state to legally grow pot. Just as it was legal for minors to be working there. That makes you the dork here. State laws in states other than your own don't give a shit about what your own goofy notions about the law are, you dorky ignoramus.

It is not legal to farm pot in California. It is legal under California law. Farming cannabis is still illegal in all 50 states as a matter of federal law.

What federal statute gives ICE jurisdiction for enforcement of federal cannabis laws on state-licensed cannabis farms in California?

You’re missing the point. ICE was conducting immigration enforcement, not criminal enforcement. They happened to direct their immigration enforcement at an operation that was flagrantly violating federal drug laws, which seems like a wholly reasonable exercise of prosecutorial discretion.

It seems like obfuscatory nonsense to me. They’re building concentration camps, FFS; nothing about them is “wholly reasonable.”

I guess everything is obfuscatory when you have no idea how anything works.

Look, I don't even believe any of what ICE claims about what they found there, whether they were underaged or whether they weren't, whether they were in fact undocumented or not. SO MUCH of what is coming out of this administration has been dishonest and outright lies. I'm going to have to see something more substantive than just believing whatever ICE claims. I have zero trust for this administration. Zero.

Well if you don't believe it, that's that then.

But for the crazy ICE raid, he wouldn't have been running.
And if child labor had not been going on and illegal immigrants present then ICE would not have had to be there.

Trump is well on the way for his Peace Prize. Peace in America.

Having no idea how anything works is a prerequisite for working in the admin.

Do you work for Trump? Is that why you are so dug in on this racism?

Neither is the Trump administration. It is staffed by the stupidest, most incompetent people Trump could find, reflecting his own stupidity and incompetence.

A California farmworker died on Friday from injuries sustained a day earlier when U.S. immigration agents raided a cannabis operation and arrested hundreds of workers, according to a farmworker advocacy group.
Dozens of migrant-rights activists faced off with federal agents in rural Southern California on Thursday. It was the latest escalation of President Donald Trump's campaign for mass deportations of immigrants in the U.S. illegally.

This man was killed by ICE agents. Will they be held responsible for murdering this person? Will there even be an investigation?

You mean HE jumped from a thirty foot roof, and killed himself by breaking his neck.
