Agreed. Why can’t California follow the example of the following red states that allow children as young as 12 (or younger with parental consent) to work on farms with few restrictions?

**Iowa**, **Florida**, **Arkansas**, **Missouri**, and **Georgia** have the most permissive child labor laws for agricultural workers. These states allow children as young as 12 (or younger with parental consent) to work on farms with minimal hour restrictions and fewer protections against hazardous tasks, aligning closely with lenient federal FLSA standards. Recent laws (2022-2025) in these states have further relaxed oversight, such as removing work permit requirements or expanding allowable tasks.

Huh? Why can't they?
California DOES allow 12 year olds to work on farms. https://www.dol.gov/agencies/whd/state/child-labor/agriculture

Which makes it extra weird that Noem and ICE and MAGA are doing a lot of posturing claiming to be enforcing California child labor laws when a.) it's state and not federal jurisdiction and b.) they don't even know what the damn law is.

It was a pot farm you dork.
And, how long had they been working there? Since they were 8? 9? I guess it depends on how much they owe to the cartels.

DP WTF? So now ICE will break down doors with no warrant to go a fishing expedition? When that fails, you kill a man and start screaming about state laws violations? You maga people are just lawless.

They had a warrant, idiot.
It is just incredible that you cannot admit that this was a lawful, and productive, law enforcement operation.
And, nobody killed the man. He fell all by himself. Maybe he shouldn't have been trying to evade law enforcement.

BREAKING: Regarding the ongoing ICE & Border Patrol raid at a marijuana farm in Camarillo:

Three senior federal officials tell me that DHS has a criminal judicial search warrant signed off on by a federal judge for 8 USC 1324, harboring of illegal aliens.

I'm told the operation is ongoing, and will likely result in "hundreds" of arrests when the dust settles, making it potentially one of the largest single operations we've seen during the Trump administration.

I’m told HSI obtained evidence that Glasshouse Farms is employing illegal aliens. They went to a federal judge, and the judge signed a warrant for them to go in.

DP. I hope that you express as much zeal for the arrest of the owners of the pot farm as you do for the undocumented migrants who worked there.

I do. They should be out of business, IMO.

Glad we can agree on that at least. But in practice, business owners rarely pay for these violations. I’ll be pleasantly surprised if this administration goes after business owners with the same intensity that it does the undocumented workers they hire. And not just left-leaning ones—all of them. In blue AND red states.

Great, now he’s qualified to run for president, I guess.

So what if it was a pot farm? Why are you fixated on whether it was a pot farm? You seem ignorant of state laws. It is legal to farm pot in California and the farm that was raided was licensed by the state to legally grow pot. Just as it was legal for minors to be working there. That makes you the dork here. State laws in states other than your own don't give a shit about what your own goofy notions about the law are, you dorky ignoramus.

It is not legal to farm pot in California. It is legal under California law. Farming cannabis is still illegal in all 50 states as a matter of federal law.

You do have to be 18.

The person that is guilty of the crime is the owner or the person that hired them.

This has been asked several time,a why are the owners and operator of these establishments not fined or taken into custody? Where is the outrage?

Because that’s not what this is about. It’s about Miller’s racist fantasies. MAGAs, too, I guess.

It is absolutely illegal for anyone under 21 years of age to work in any capacity on a cannabis farm in CA. It isn’t even under 18, it’s under 21.

And no one who isn’t a citizen should risk working in a cannabis farm because it isn’t legal under federal law. The exploited workers some who filed a class action lawsuit about wage theft with this specific employer are putting their work permits/asylum claims/green cards at risk. So they are getting screwed by their employer and the federal government.

You’re missing the point. ICE was conducting immigration enforcement, not criminal enforcement. They happened to direct their immigration enforcement at an operation that was flagrantly violating federal drug laws, which seems like a wholly reasonable exercise of prosecutorial discretion.
