BOOM:

Earlier Sunday, President Trump slapped Colombia with 25 percent tariffs on all goods coming into the U.S., and he issued a travel ban and immediate visa revocations on “Government Officials, and all Allies and Supporters,” among other measures, after the South American country rejected two planes carrying migrants.
Petro previously said he will deny entry to the United States’s deportation flights as Trump’s immigration plan begins.

This is how it is done.

How what is done? You have no idea.

The president of Columbia responded within a couple hours to offer his own plane to return the migrants to Columbia.

And? His objection was to using military planes with people treated like animals. He hasn’t backed down from that position.

Of course he backed down. He doesn’t want tariffs so he sent a plane to pick up his citizens. Win for the U.S. They are back in Columbia at Columbia’s expense

This is an interesting development. Colombia said they wouldn’t take back their own citizens so Trump is enacting tariffs and other measures.

Personally, I think this is a great move. It is the responsibility of the host nation to repatriate their citizens. I do not understand why Colombia won’t welcome their own people back.

They don’t have any issues taking their migrants back. They are demanding they are returned on civilian flights like humans.

To me, that’s a fair ask.

Something to consider if you care about consumer prices...

Colombias gas exports have been decreasing yearly due to a host of issues. That’s while US shale is increasing, and hopefully increasing faster with a new regulatory environment.

Africa makes great coffee and I’ll gladly pay $3 a pound more to remove illegal migrants from our country.

What an elitist response. Unlike you, some of us don’t have 6 figure salaries.

Then don't drink coffee. It's bad for you anyway

Why don't they (Colombia) pay for these flights then? THAT would be fair
Yes, Colombia can accept US flights, or pay for the civilian flights, or they will be held in detention.

They won’t care about their citizens in detention centers except to say the US is bad. If they say the US is bad, then fewer will leave Columbia. Not sure who’s winning at this game.

No one needs coffee, so no loss there. Luxury item.

Petroleum might be an issue but that is TBD.

Fruit and vegetables are the big thing not coffee or oil. Our winter supplies come from 3 places, Colombia, Peru and Mexico

Think of all the climates we will be saving by not having raspberries in January!

Totally cool with that trade. Bring it.

F that. I don't want to eat nothing but 3 month old apples and squash in winter

We need innovative solutions to get food to table in season. Oranges, for example, are awful today. It would be great to get fresh food.

The libs on here are hysterical. Trump could cure cancer, and they'd fill the thread with "That Orange Doofus cured cancer in the worst way! What a joke. And he had to announce it at a press conference because he constantly needs the spotlight on himself. Anyone who uses his cure is a transphobic, xenophobic Nazi racist piece of shIT!"

Coffee and gas prices are going to go waaaaaaup!

Yup more Trumpflation. Went shopping today. Chicken breasts were $7.99 per pound!

Look at beef and strawberries. That's where the big inflation is going to be

Anonymous wrote:To me, this has a simple solution. Everyone here illegally can organize and pay for their own flights home. If they don’t, they can’t complain about the treatment from the US government. It’s not like anyone could be surprised that there was going to be some deportations happening (and probably a lot more too).

We have laws and an orderly way that this is done. This isn't the first time people have been deported. What's different is that he isn't following our laws and apparently is violating human rights with his performative BS, putting our pilots at risk of international legal action.

We do have laws, which they broke. Now they’re worried about someone following them? Lol

Yes, these people literally broke our laws. And they aren’t American citizens. We don’t owe them anything. At any point they could have left our country willingly or paid for their own flights. Or their country could have. But they didn’t want to. So too bad.

Sickening. Are you a Christian? We don’t owe them basic humanity?

+1 can’t believe that Columbia had more decency than the US right now. Truly sobering (and terrifying)
