Any safety loving resident, anyone attempting to raise a family in DC, or anyone who cares about your property value needs to donate what you can to this recall effort. We don’t live in Ward 6, but we still donated. There’s not much time left to fix this.

If you don't live in Ward 6, this sounds like fraud. Can we get the government to freeze these accounts?

How is it fraud? I didn't donate to this recall effort but I've donated to campaigns in places where I don't live a lot of times -- friends running for office in another part of the country, supporting certain politicians who I think deserve a bigger voice even though I don't live there, etc. As a DC resident, that's one way I've counteracted the fact that I don't have Congressional representation, actually -- donating to campaigns outside DC so that I still have something of a "voice" in Congress.

What on earth would give you the idea that this is "fraud" and suggest we "freeze accounts"? That's a really un-democratic impulse.

Ignorant, incorrect, yet, rattled.

Good!

This person's mind is gonna explode when he sees how much money JLG has raised from people who don't live in Ward 4 (or don't even live in DC at all).

DP: It's obviously legit money, but it doesn't correlate to support in his actual Ward, which is where the signatures will need to come from in order to proceed with the recall. We know this money is mostly coming from GOP ops so we have to see what happens next.

Why would they donate money to her? How is she helping them?

Ok, MAGA.

You’ve inspired me to make a second donation.

Too many low information voters on this forum. And in this city, hence the crime wave.

Hi, Chuckles. Should we pay it right to your wife’s “nonprofit”?

You could well be wrong in your presumption. When donors are disclosed, we shall see. Many D voters are unhappy with the status quo and the direction DC is headed. Corrections are inevitable, whether by listening to the D majority, or when revenue dwindles.

DC is very different than it was in 2017. The propaganda that only "MAGA" reject the status quo of a soaring homicide rate and body count of black men and children, is preposterous and racist. Most would like a "reset" as Bowser has been calling it.

As businesses, sports teams and residents leave, and voucher and other programs draw those in need of significant support from across the US, the financial burden on those who do work will only grow, as quality of life and basic safety continue to decline. The writing is on the wall.

What if this teen had been 19, would she have gotten 2 years in DC for taking a life? In other jurisdictions, punishment is not capped by date the killer turns 21, they are held in youth facilities until adulthood, then moved.

It came out at the "forum" the other evening that kids call DYRS "the playground." Given minimal education and lots of time spent playing tax dollar purchased games of Call of Duty and GTA, not so much of a punishment or deterrent. In the 90s kids went to places in MD they preferred to avoid. That was better for the public and for the kids, many of whom were diverted, rather than groomed into, a life of crime.

It is as though Schwab and others are purposely engineering a young criminal class. Truancy is not enforced. Kids are caught and released even for violent or gun crimes. Very Lord of the Flies but engineered by adults. To what end? Not the benefit of the kids, many of whom end up dead at a young age.

DYRS is under the purview of the honorable Muriel Bowser, Mayor

I was talking about the crime rate, not an election cycle.

DC's incompetence and dirty laundry is getting quite an airing. Not only the carjacker spree the other night that killed a cooperative victim and left another man shot in the head, picking up his wife near City Center, but this

And the oversight of DYRS is a responsibility of the Council. The laws directing and limiting how long people can be placed there were written by the Council (or, more likely, by DCJL), during the time Allen chaired the Public Safety Committee.
