If that was enough, why spend all this money on a recall? Why force DC to allocate financial resources to a special election if you believe his time is up in two years anyway?

You misunderstood. I don’t mean he won’t be reelected. I mean his political career is “over” over. That’s all she wrote.

It doesn’t matter either way. It’s time to federalize the city, or at the very least bring the Control Board back. 4 budgets with no DC Council is de minimus for DC to survive

The District of Columbia Financial Responsibility and Management Assistance Authority was formed in April 1995 in order to assist the District in eliminating budget deficits, managing problems more efficiently and effectively, and ensuring the long-term viability of the Nation's capital.

By statute, the board will return decisionmaking power to the city's elected officials after a series of four consecutive balanced budgets.

No. At this point you're sounding worse than the Council.

Sounds good to me.

Trump promised to federalize the city.

Biden is facing a tough election. Taking control of the city will signal to the rest of the country that the nobodies Allen & the Looney Tinfoil Hat & Co can’t be the tail wagging the Democrats.

If the bloodshed and lawlessness under the White House windows continues and we get another DC summer, I think we are that much closer to losing the election, and then the city will get federalized.

So I don’t see how there’s a choice. Biden must bring in the control board and disband the council. Then we can start over with normal people in 4 budget cycles.

At the very least Biden would get to appoint the board if we act now. Otherwise you’ll get lunatics on both the board and the city side

And he says his policy agenda has always been shaped by constituents who buttonhole him about problems large and small. “Ward 6 sent me back time and again to the Council because that’s the reputation I have,” he told me. “I’ve heard from so many residents that are just frustrated with an effort like this. They feel like, rather than being part of a solution, they’re trying to leave Ward 6 without even representation or a voice.”

That's true, advocacy groups like the Violent Felonies Guild, the Public Defecation League, the Public Stunts Alliance, and Carjackers Local 3068 are all 1000% against his recall.

I’m not a big fan of Charles Allen, but running a recall campaign without a new candidate is indeed a pointless waste of time and money. He ran unapposed last time. The recall is basically just an effort to use the electoral system to harass him but without actually making the effort to run a candidate. I find it troubling.

I disagree. The message needs to be sent about the voters not being ignored. Also an empty chair would be better and do less damage

It will be empty then he will be re-elected. Stupid.

I don’t think he will. I think he’ll be ditched by the Dems and can try as an independent but at that point he’s over

This man is finished. No matter what. That’s why he’s so desperate to hold on to this job. Who’s gonna hire him? Maybe one of 17 offices for redistribution of taxpayer $ and DC budget to friends and associates that DC founded?

No worries. The vast criminal/vagrancy-industrial complex in DC has countless "charities" that will hire him.

I was going to say, he's going to be hired to consult somewhere in DC, maybe even a contract from the counsel. His views are lockstep with DC politics and activism.

Tommy Wells really soiled himself with that Tweet. It’s one thing to say great things about your former chief of staff. But to lie to your former constituents with a demonstrably untrue claim is not a great look. And probably indicates they are appropriately nervous.

I don’t think so. People aren’t taking his calls now, let alone if he’s recalled.

The comments on any Charles Allen tweet are pure comedy 🙃

Trust me, if DC does one thing really well, it's handing out fake jobs to people who otherwise couldn't find one.

Or Charles could even found his own "non-profit" and get awarded a million-dollar contract from the city for some useless performative social justice work.

This is like tying the police in a sack and giving criminals a 2-day head start. No wonder they all flee into DC.

Can someone please look into criminal or civil liability for the Council, and especially Chuckles the Clown? Recall isn’t enough. He’s radioactive but I’d like to see him in court as well
