| Another Capital Blue 24 commits to a top 20 program: JMU |
| Just want to understand, so when another girl from a lower club committed to JMU, the whole dcum board trashed that player and the school itself. But when a Capital player commits to the same school it’s like gold and the parting of the Red Sea, best thing since sliced bread, etc…. Please help me understand the difference. Are girls from other clubs in the DMV not allowed to commit to schools like JMU, is it only reserved for Capital players. I’ll point out another reference, same thing happened with girls from the DC area committing to Michigan. Not stating this to stir the pot at all but just saying we should congratulate all the players from NOVA regardless of what club they play for as it all helps bring recognition to NOVA for lax |
| From my previous post, don’t have any skin in the game as my daughter already graduated but I do read these posts from time to time and some of the info on here is just plain funny and so innacurate |
I do remember that. My kid plays for Capital and I will say this because I said it with the 23s. Michigan is a great program and a growing program. And when the Metro girl committed there, I was super happy for her because that’s huge for NOVA no matter where she came from |
| Agreed with poster that we should congratulate all the players as it’s not an easy task to commit to any of those schools listed above. Seems to be only 1 or 2 folks on here badmouthing everyone |
| Even more so, all the JMU commits referenced are from NoVA public schools. While everyone realizes that the public level is not at the high level the privates have around here, it should say something about the overall quality of the area that even the public schools in the area can send a number of girls quality D1 programs. Rising tide lifts all boats. It will only help the area’s reputation for future classes. |
You’re profiling an entire club’s parent / fan base based on one PP who clearly had some axe to grind about past Capital commits to JMU. Lay off the superlatives. Be happy for these kids. Support the talent the DMV is producing to top college programs. |
This is so condescending. I'm not sure if it was intended but borderline offensive to kids who go to public schools. 'Even public school girls can send a kid to a D1 program'. |
|
| And one has - the other likely will not |
The one that committed plays in public school at a lower level. The other one made State finals and first team all state. Not sure why you think the other one won’t commit just as high, if that’s what she wants to do But I also want to say, I think we put too much stress on going to a top 20 school. Some kids want to find a good fit not the greatest program in the world. Just saying |
You obviously have no idea what you are talking about. But Capital Goalie and one of the Pride Goalies will go to great schools. |
| Why’s the difference if a public and private school player end up at the same college. At the end of the day, no one cares |
Completely agree. The emphasis on Capital’s recruits to 20 schools here, I think, is more about showing the DMV has arrived in sending players to some of the strongest lax programs in the country. Some suggested the 23s were an anomaly. Early signs from the 24s are showing similar results. |
