I bet she'll keep growing, she seems like a late bloomer. My SIL got her period at 11 y/o and kept growing - she' 6 ft tall now. |

has she had a recent spurt? girls usually have a big spurt before their period and then grow anywhere from 1-4 in after that. Most are in the 1-2 range.
I have been down this road so I get where the worry comes in. PPS don't realize how people comment to girls on their height, bodies etc, and point out if they are diff from family, others, etc |
I haven't read all the replies, but you need to not feed into the idea that she is weaker or slower because she's shorter. I have a 17.5-year-old DD who's been 5 feet tall since she was 13, so I think she's done growing. She's also on the varsity track team at high school and is the fastest runner on her HS soccer team-- faster than girls who are far taller. |

I am 54 years old and 5 foot tall and I’ve had a wonderful life.
Why is this an issue ? |
I’m your height but never wished to be taller and I too married a tall guy. |
| I was 5' at 15, now 5'6". But I'm from a family of late growers. I got my period at 15 too. |
Boy or girl? |
The OP says her daughter talks about her height, so I think that’s the issue. I had a similar situation with my 5’1” daughter that wished to be taller. At the time I was unsure whether I should say that she might grow more, or focus on getting her to accept her height. She was self conscious, I think because it was a topic among her growing friends. A friend that was exactly her height would suddenly be 4 inches taller seemingly overnight. OP, in my experience, whatever her height ends up being the focus will come off it when her cousins and friends stop growing. |
| My 18-year-old DD is half an inch shy of 5 feet. She stopped growing sometime in middle school I don’t know when. She actually loves being short she feels like it’s her superpower… If she’s initially underestimated she quickly disabuses people of the notion that she is anything but very capable. |
| It will be what it will be, but I was a 5ft 13yo and I am 5'8". |
| Guys like short girls. |
| I don't know what your question/concern is. She's not freakishly short and is only 13. |
I have read all the replies. My 11th grade DD hasn't even broken 5' yet (and likely won't) yet she's been on the varsity track team since 9th grade and on varsity softball since 10th grade. She's one of the fastest girls on the track team and is THE fastest on the softball team. She never gets to play 1st base unless it's a blow out but she's the premier CFer. Comparison is the thief of joy. |
| I'm 4'11" and change. It isn't a big deal. Find a good tailor and move on. Finding clothes and shoes to fit are the biggest issues. |
| Are you concerned about Tanner Syndrome OP? |
