When I go into a neighborhood toy store I want to buy some high-quality made in Germany or made in USA items that are not going to end up in the landfill. I'd rather that my children have one or two nice playthings, than a pile of ugly plastic junk.

Really? They sell Playmobil and that sort of thing, too. Are you thinking of a specific location (do they have more than one?) I go to the one in McLean a lot, and I'm just curious. I don't really recall seeing a lot of Made in China stuff, which I usually refuse to buy. But I have been frustrated several times by the store being half empty.

Wha?? We go to Tree Top to avoid the made in China stuff. They have all sorts of wood toys and very little plastic. We go to the Cabin John store. Sounds like 11:32 has a personal issue - this is not at all the case. In fact, we go out of our way to shop at Tree Top b/c we care about keeping small, local business - and them in particular - afloat in this economy.

Can't stand Tree Top.

Agree on Ethan Allen. They used to make nice stuff. Now, I think they are using inferior wood.

Will go to best buy, but only after doing my research.

Won't go to Wallmart. If the damn thing breaks and needs to be rebought, it really isn't cheaper. Plus, too much of the merchandise is in crappy shape and I don't have the patience to sort.

I used to boycott the Harris Teeter in Pentagon City because the diapers and the chocolate were in the same aisle. Dunno if that is true anymore.

Comcast is horrible. They were very rude to me and my mother. When I called to cancel, they immediately backtracked and started apologizing for their inept customer service. But not until I called to cancel. We went with Verizon Fios and things have been fine since then.

WalMart & Sam's. They treat their employees horribly.

Also, I cannot stand Verizon. The customer service sucks. We now have DirecTV and much happier.

"Organic" product lines at supermarkets - not traceable except at Whole Foods.

Psst, whole foods organic (frozen) produce comes from China. Who knows if it's really organic.

Watch your bills Verizon is notorious for over billing. I will never use them again because they over billed me on every bill for more than a year.

Why?

I second Comcast!!! I hate them! I can't even talk about it.
Verizon is bad news too!

Because diapers and chocolate were in the same aisle. Isn't that clear?

(I can spell it out: I preferred the chocolate be in an aisle I can avoid when shopping with a toddler.)

For Eyes or Hour Eyes for eyeglasses or prescription sunglasses. The worst! Totally worth it to pay more at a place that will give you a warranty.

Why? I like to shop local if possible. Bad experience or dislike the products?
