Yup. But instead, Dems are opposed to sending back illegals even if they are convicted of drunk driving. It's got to be a VIOLENT crime in their minds. But why? Why is the priority to protect illegals who not only break into our country but violate additional crimes once they get here? We even had a liberal judge sneak a drunk driver out the back door of her courtroom because ICE agents were waiting out front to deport him. Why so intent on protecting a criminal alien and risking the lives of Americans? The Dems have their priorities all mixed up: illegals count ahead of Americans! And this is why Trump will win. |
That 2013 bill offered amnesty to every illegal immigrant in the country. I can't even fathom how many people would be rushing to our border to get here in time to get that amnesty or stay long enough for us to grant another amnesty. Did we learn any lessons from the last time we did it? It was 1 million that got amnesty last time. Now there are multiples of that. No no no no no! |
Yes, they do, because the people who overlook our visas are on the lookout for visa fraud and potential overstays. People who can show through ties to their home country, bank accounts, businesses etc. that they just want to visit Disney and go home to not have a problem getting a vacation visa. |

I'm a democrat and wish there were humane but common sense immigration reforms to include stronger enforcement along the border, no family separation during detention, real consequences for employers of undocumented employees, realistic numbers of temporary work visas that include STEM professions and also blue collar workers in key industries like agriculture, construction, etc.
I supported DACA because at some point we need to invest in kids who were raised here and let them contribute as employable, tax-paying would-be citizen. I've spent many years in and around Latin America and have met so many people who have worked illegally in the U.S. and then gone back to their home countries (voluntarily or by deportation). Most really don't want to live forever in the U.S. They get "stuck" there because of their illegal status and often live relatively lonely lives while losing contact with home. I think if they had, say, a five-year work visa tied to an industry (not to a specific employer) that allowed them to travel and return, they would be much more likely to maintain ties in their home countries and more likely to leave at the end of the visa. |
| I don't know any Dems who want complete open borders. |
Regarding DACA- who better to go back and make changes for the betterment of their countries than someone who has an American education and understanding of how our system works? Regarding not wanting to live in the US - a Marshall Plan type of investment would be the best way to address this. We need to make their countries liveable so they dont come here. This would only work when coupled with strict border and Visa enforcement and no benefits for being here illegally |
Take a look at most of the democratic candidates. They are campaigning the get rid of immigration enforcement and decriminalize crossing the border. Even Jeh Johnson, President Obama's DHS chief said this amounts to open borders. |
Sorry, but their actions are screaming so loudly I can't hear what they're saying. |
It actually is a winning campaign message in some parts of the country! In Montgomery County, the AOC rally was well-attended and local politicians tout how MoCo is a Sanctuary County. Montgomery county is solid blue and voters will support candidates who support illegal immigration. Look at CA. They passed a law to offer taxpayer-funded healthcare to illegal immigrants. |
If a candidate is offering an increase in social services for illegal immigrants (free community college, free healthcare, free meals, etc), that is essentially going to lead to an increase in illegal immigration. If a candidate wants to decriminalize crossing the border illegally, that is essentially supporting open borders. |
He's not changing anything - https://www.forbes.com/sites/brucejapsen/2019/07/06/bidens-healthcare-idea-for-undocumented-immigrants-already-exists/#240b3b392805 Biden’s Healthcare Idea For Undocumented Immigrants Already Exists

| NONE OF THE DEM CANDIDATES WANT TO ELIMINATE IMMIGRATION LAWS. Therefore, I am going to declare OP either a troll, or too dim to understand that the "democrats want open borders" line is Republican propaganda. |
How do you explain decriminalizing border crossing? |
Don’t be so sure of that. Among immigrants there is an attitude of I have mine, now close the border. |
Andrew Yang is touting UBI. Has anyone seen his explanation of how that works with open borders? |
