Most really don't want to live forever in the U.S. They get "stuck" there because of their illegal status and often live relatively lonely lives while losing contact with home. I think if they had, say, a five-year work visa tied to an industry (not to a specific employer) that allowed them to travel and return, they would be much more likely to maintain ties in their home countries and more likely to leave at the end of the visa.[/quote]
