Is it wrong that I find the idea of a 12 year old girl coming out as bisexual to be unsettling?

Why would a stranger's sexuality be unsettling to anyone?

I fail to see how your daughter's acquaintance impacts you at all.

Being bi means liking boys and girls.

Being lesbian means liking girls.

Many kids come out earlier than ever before. There is no right age.

Maybe you should built yourself a little tents and stay inside with your heteronormative views. Don't look outside the tent. You may not like reality.

I don't get the freakout here.

If she's bi, she can limit herself to boys and just leave it at that. Not every itch has to be scratched.

Yeah, if she was a homophobe bigot like you. Luckily she's not. Yay her!

Isn't 6th grade around the age some kids start having crushes? Some girls will notice that they like boys, some will notice that they like girls, and some will notice that they like both or one of those and people of other genders. 12 seems to be within the normal age for starting to figure out who you might have more than friendly feelings towards, so no I would not find this unsettling. Especially if it wasn't even my child or close relative but just a stranger who's an acquaintance of my kid.

I was Bi then just as I am now. I didn't even know what the word was then.

All I was....was SUICIDAL because of small minded people like you and PP.

I'm truly sorry that you felt suicidal, PP, but I guarantee it wasn't because of anyone else.

Yes, well, many of them are inappropriate, especially for kids. I love my cat, too. Do you want to go there?

If she declared she was straight you wouldn't think so. This is a valid orientation.

Yeah, a little bit -- at 12 the only real reply should be "That's nice dear!' and then a reminder that there's no dating until high school - boys or girls.

Is it wrong that you feel this way? No, your feelings are your feelings.

You might do some thinking about why you feel this way, though.

OP, why are you unsettled? If you go to ANY middle school, you see LOTS of girls being boy crazy. So ... not all girls like boys. Why is it any different if a middle school girl realizes she likes girls?

No, actually, for a 12 year old, it is not.
