A Day Without Women in Our Public Schools on March 8?

That is my fear as well. I always seem to be targeted when there is a sub shortage in my school. Seems like there should be a contingency plan so that the same teachers are not used all of the time.

There's another thread re Sheridan on this stupid idea. Fine, if you want to take a vacation day or a sick day, do so, but leave your politics at home and don't bring them to school, especially a PUBLIC school. Enough with the protests. You lost the election. Give up the irresponsible protests and rioting and do something positive to rebuild the nation.

Funny how you equate protests with riots. The two are not the same.

Inaugural day. Your forget so quickly: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/local/wp/2017/01/20/inauguration-day-2017-washington-prepares-for-celebration-protests-and-donald-trump/?utm_term=.2bb4f7f85b39. 200 arrests and I understand all will be prosecutored for rioting and vandalism.

Another cheap stunt so slacker liberals can take a day off.

Since we are talking about a day without women, a better example would be the Women's March on Washington, which had no arrests.

What would happen if we had the majority of teachers stay home on March 8? Would our schools have to close? Anyone hearing from your public school? Particularly interested in ACPS and FCPS.

I don't think it will be a problem. I'm a teacher and I havent heard anyone mention it.

I work for LCPS and have heard of 0 at my school requesting the day off or planning to call in sick.

If I were working in FCPS, I'd consider taking the day off. This administration wants to close public schools. Why not protest for both education and women in one day? Some school systems in the country are completely closing because of it.

I emailed my children's teachers at a local public school to tell them I supported them taking the day off. They said something I could do to support them would be to email the principal and superintendent. I wrote a long email listing all of the women at school who've helped my kids and family. I'm glad my kids can start to think above the value of women's work.

I asked around today. Not one person knew about this planned event.

Same and same. And I'm so over these "protests."

I'm a teacher and have not heard of anyone doing this. I hadn't heard about this day at all before reading DCUM. I can't imagine any teacher I know taking a day off to prove a point. Any considering doing so should look for a new profession.

Your struggle is so real PP. I'm sure there's a special support group for you.

If they don't show up at work, there's no way we'll have enough subs to cover the students. I'm pissed that they're choosing to make a political statement at the expense of our students and their families.

Where is this? Why would some schools have so many sub requests when other schools aren't even aware of it?

I'm in FCPS. I don't think it is on any radars.
