Terrorism and national safety is my number one, number two and through number 25 on my list of concerns. Everything else gravy. |
There is nothing that Trump has proposed that has solution to these issues. He is screaming word salad, not proposing coherent solution. |
China as a state barely can keep itself one entity. True now and true in the past. But Noooo, the USA can't expect any country to follow agreed to trade rules.... Trump speaks to this actual problem and wins over voters. |
In a simplistic way, sure. But have you investigated the links between climate change and terrorism? Would you not consider Louisiana flooding on a widespread scale and widespread drought and food shortages to be linked to national safety? You should. You have about 0.02% of being affected by terrorism, and a 100% chance of being affected by climate change. It's like living in a house with unsecured guns and little kids and worrying about wifi. |
Is America at war with China or Russia? Are we on the verge of nuclear war with these giants? Is this the country that won the second world war? Are a country of wimps afraid of a small number of individuals, much smaller than the white supremacists who have killed hundreds more in the past decade, according to FBI stats. These individual supremacists and muslim americans are only as dangerous as the random white guy with a gun who has killed children, people in movie theaters, in colleges, in malls, in temples, mosques, clubs and work places. Have they declared war on America? Are they a serious threat to the existence of this country that you have ranked terroism/security as top 25 concerns? Our major concern is lack of education that creates irrational individuals who have no sense of scale, history or any orientation at all about any issue. Its the fault of our education system that ordinary people can't critically think or analyze problems and come up with solutions. Its a shame. |
China and India are the only two continuing civilizations that have successfully re-invented themselves in similar shape and form for centuries. To this day they have preserved their distinct culture, language and philosophies. The greeks, the romans, the british, the french have all fallen after a short (in historical years) peak. I think America has joined these civilizational giants as the third force. The point is throughout human history until 1850s India and China have been the top two economies in the world. after a break of 150 years, Now China is back at #1, USA is #2 and India is at #3. Look how fast china evolves itself when faced with an issue. They have the worlds largest and biggest in everything. Anyone who thinks China will collapse have no idea about how China has survived for 5000 years. They adapt to what works very quickly. Thats the mark of a survivor. India is like a jelly. Even their philosophy and religion is very flexible and adaptable. |

I believe that we have a responsibility to do everything we can to minimize our impact on the environment. I also believe we have been harming our world for a long time and it IS making a difference.
Now, about politics. A lot has already been said about Trump and his lack of concern but what about Hillary. Is she going to anger the big oil companies, and nations like Saudi Arabia, who have given large quantities of cash to her, her husband and the CF? But beyond that she has a significant track record in favor of fossil fuels, offshore drilling and more. Better than Trump on this issue? No doubt. Strong enough to be more proactive? Lots of doubt. |
It is reasonable to doubt what has not been implemented, but does her plan make sense? When I have two candidate, one has a plan to solve issues (you may not know whether it would work until it is implemented) and another who wants to regress from the advancements made so far, I would chose the first candidate for sure. |
The history lesson about china apart, do you think Trump can make the chinese change and favor America in trade? How? Like how he dealt with his many business failures? Shut down America, declare bankruptcy and make china pay America's bill? China holds $2 trillions of American debt. China is the largest market for many american companies, not USA, including GM, Boeing, Google, Apple, Caterpillar, CISCO, Lenovo etc. China holds the upper hand in any trade deal with any country BUT India. Because every one wants that 1.3 Billion market. India has its own 1.2 Billion internal market and it is internal consumption driven economy, so in general not vulnerable to global pulls. You think Nixon onwards, Reagan, Clinton and Bushes included didn't know how to negotiate with China. They hold all the chips and that equation hasn't changed. Trump with his short attention span will be eaten for lunch by the shrewd chinese. |
| Serious question: If you believe that climate change represents an existential threat to the planet, have you moved to a zero carbon emissions lifestyle? |
| The Climate Change Agenda and Universal Healthcare Agenda are BOTH about redistribution of income. The left figures making everything mandatory spending thru impact litigation and legislation will result in $$$ flowing from the rich to the poor. That's all these two agendas are about (as well as hot air). |
I have an expensive beach house ocean front in Florida, so yes, thank you for the lecture. I am very concerned about climate change and am well aware of the effect that it will "personally" have on me. I am also aware that massive flooding is indeed linked to national security. However, the loss to me "personally" is nothing compared to the growing threat of terrorism by Islamic radicals that is infiltrating this country. If you don't see that, it's because you don't want to. |
| Trump only believe in climate change if it relates to his money and business. His business filed to have a retaining wall built for his golf course which was falling into the ocean. On the petition, global warming was cited as the reason. |
No, it's because it's never going to be as big a problem as global warming. It just isn't. Islamophobia will for sure give it a nice toe hold here and there. |
Different poster. A country afraid of .01% of 1% of the US population is not the country that is gonna beat China in Anything. China, please take the vacant super power spot, you are already the de facto super power anyways and have the largest economy and your military is catching up fast. We have had a decent 150 year run but now its all yours as you make your rightful claim to the top spot that you have had centuries. |
