Truly baffled that this theead is on to the 2nd page and only one poster has mentioned the security issues. Craziness. We had a conference scheduled to take place in Tel Aviv less than a year ago and it was cancelled since it was considered too big a safety risk for people to travel there even for a few days conference let alone living there. I really do not see how you can ignore the very unfortunate security risk of moving there even if it is a wonderful city.
Indeed. "Wartime" is, on one level or another, every day there. My brother's lived in Jerusalem for over 25 yrs (splitting time between there & teaching in US each year) and the security issues are real and every day matters. Tel Aviv is more secular, of course, but it's still in Israel and the issues never go away. I wouldn't move to Israel, period. After hearing my brother's stories of what it's like dealing with the bureaucracy, etc., forget it. It doesn't matter to me being Jewish or not (I am but nonobservant and definitely not sympathetic to the crazy rantings of Netanyahu and his ilk who have taken over the national political dialogue).
