Try Costco!!! Their charisma are awesome! My picky mom even complimented them. |
PB and Williams Sonoma are the same company. I used to work at WS, and we would have taken them back. If you just bought them and had the receipt, it would be clear that they were new and should still be okay, even if they were washed. I'm genuinely surprised PB wouldn't take them back. |
Sorry, but that bullcrap. I had sheets from Bed Bath and Beyond that literally fell apart after one wash, and they took them back, no problem. For linens and towels some problems don't show until they are washed. No way should they refuse to take back a defective item just because you washed it. |
To be fair, BBB has one of the best customer service policies out there. They accept returns without receipts in many cases, will accept returns with little to no explanation and are great about the coupons. Despite expirations dates on the coupons, they do not acknowledge them and will accept any BBB and many competitor coupons for items they carry. They will do so after the fact. I have shopped numerous times without my coupons, but can come back with the receipt and coupons and they will credit my credit card with the discounts. I once brought three receipts back with about 20 coupons and got like $50 back from my last 3 trips. I have had fantastic customer service from BBB and will shop there in preference to many other places when I can. |
Don't buy anything from Pottery Barn. Everything we've ever bought there has fallen apart. |
I'd call again or try a different store. Do you have your receipt? Maybe that's the hang up? |
They should absolutely take back those towels. Who uses towels without washing them??
A few years ago, we had a child's hooded towel from Lands End that fell apart after two washings. Child had only used it once. I called LE and they were horrified, sent me a new towel of my choice, monogrammed it for free (first one wasnt monogrammed) and send a bag for me to use to return the original towel. They wanted to see what the problem was to make sure it was just a fluke. PB dropped the ball on this one. |
Thanks for the warning, OP.
I've bought organic bath towels from them before, and they have never come apart, but they don't seem to dry very well, for some reason... I've become suspicious of PB in general - they have lovely things, but the quality does not justify the price. |
They used to allow reviews and it was so helpful! Damn the man. |
All three of our children have had their bed linens from there for years and it all looks brand new. |
It's ridiculous to say that this should just be a "lesson learned." You can learn the lesson without having to lose money on a product they should stand behind. I agree with the advice to keep pursuing this with a manager or someone higher. This is terrible customer service and they should know about it. The product was inferior. It's a no-brainer that they should take them back and refund your money.
Have our standards slipped so much that we're willing to accept this terrible level of customer service or just accept that products are crap? That's depressing. And expensive. |
Do you mean that they don't absorb water, like when you are trying to dry your hands or body on them? If that's the case, then likely the problem is that you are using fabric softener when washing them. You shouldn't use fabric softener on towels. The softener coats the threads and inhibits the ability to absorb water. If you mean that they absorb water (like in the wash) and then won't dry (like in the dryer), then you might want to check your dryer vents. If your dryer vent is clogged with lint then the humidity will have a harder time escaping the dryer and it will inhibit the drying. |
I had the same thing happen with a towel I bought at Macy's, and they took it back without an issue. Did you speak to a manager, OP? If the manager was the person you spoke with, I'd write a letter to corporate to complain. If it wasn't a manager you spoke to, I'd go back and insist on speaking with one. |
Costco kitchen towels are the best! |
I have the cheapest towels you can buy from target, maybe 5 or 6 bucks each, if that....still like new after 2 years with daily use. |
