All three of our children have had their bed linens from there for years and it all looks brand new.

Maybe PB changed suppliers and manufacturers. We usually get coupon towel deals at macy's. LLBean has towels and is great for returns. We wash towels befor using them.

A PP commented on perhaps it was OP's washer/dryer. That is improbable since OP's family obviously does other laundry.

I think the policy is crap. But fwiw I have bought dozens of linens from them over the years. Tablecloths. Napkins. Sheets. Duvet covers. Pillowcases. Quilts. Pretty much everything except towels. They have all been fabulous. I have a quilt on the LR couch that is a favorite that must be 15 years old that the family fights over.

Agree. I'm always surprised at this. Yes, things should last longer than a wash, but to me, that is a "lesson learned" and hopefully you can warn others (like you did here, thanks!). I feel like I research the hell out of things, but still get stuck with shoddy crap that I don't take back. Just life. Though I wish there were a way to wade through reviews better! I am always suspicious of the ones with a ton of 5 stars and a ton of 1 stars, but beyond that, no clue.

Seriously? Someone should research the hell out of towels to make sure they don't fall apart when you WASH them? Pottery Barn should absolutely give you a refund for something that breaks down the minute you use it as you're supposed to. Hit them on social media and I bet they'll change their minds.

I had a duvet partially unravel from PB about 8 years ago. They sent me a new one and let me keep the old one no questions asked. I wonder if they have changed their policy. I called customer service rather than using a local store.

I agree with OP that what she saw was most definitely NOT "normal wear and tear."

BUT, you need to have receipt or proof that you had just purchased the towels. Please do not attempt to return the towels if you've had them for a year.

I believe falling apart after one wash is a totally acceptable reason to return towels. OP needs to keep trying to talk to the higher ups at the company to get a refund.
