Yes you will gain even though you are eating less. |
| gained 6 lbs in the past year, and I'm eating better and exercising more than ever |
| I'm at the tail end of menopause (age 58) and I've gained around 10-15 lbs total. Was 125 before, now around 137-140. I walk 3-4 miles most days power walking and don't eat between meals, but you will gain some weight. The goal is to keep it to a minimum. Plus, walking and exercise helps you sleep better because your sleep pattern will take a big hit. You might sleep seven hours on night, three hours the next. For a decade. |
| I started having difficult periods symptoms about 3 years ago (insomnia being the hardest for me to manage). Of all the difficult symptoms, I haven’t seen weight gain yet. If anything I’ve lost weight (unfortunately maybe muscle). I had to be pretty radical with my diet and give up alcohol to manage sleep, joint pain/arthritis and other symptoms, so maybe the clean eating is what’s kept the weight from being an issue too. I mean, I eat salad with protein for breakfast bc I have no room for something as low quality as granola or yogurt… |

I have gained 50 pounds since I turned 40, which puts me 40 pounds over my ideal weight.
I walk 2-3 miles every day, swim laps (usually 150-200m) 2-3 times per week, do yoga for 20-30 minutes at least twice each week, and use a "balance board" while I watch TV. I am a vegetarian who doesn't drink any alcohol and generally consumes 1200-1500 calories per day. My thyroid function is at the low end of normal, but it is still normal. My dietician cannot figure out why I am still so overweight. Perimenopause is the only explanation. 😕 |
This. +1 |
| I started Ozempic for diabetes at age 49, so I actually end up losing 40 lbs over the next 4 years. I shudder to think what would have happened otherwise. |

Yeah . No clue
Went w Zepbound. |

I am 46 and have been in peri for a year now. I go months between periods even though they were like clockwork for 30 years.
So far I have gained about 7 pounds, from 122 to 129, despite having no diet or lifestyle changes. I am dreading what actual menopause will do. |
| Perimenopause, have gained a good 15 and I was 15 overweight to begin with. I am exercising a lot and eating almost nothing processed, lots of fiber and protein, watching my calories. |
| I am 49 and 5 foot 7 and went from a baseline of 134-138 lbs in my late 40s to now 148 lbs in the course of a year. I had been at 128-132 from ages 30-44. I was 110-116 through my twenties, then gained to 130 to get pregnant. I walk 14,000 steps a day and eat healthy. I have to think it is hormones. I am afraid to take GLPs, as I got a prescription and have it sitting in the fridge in basement. It is like, yes, i would feel so much better 10 to 20 lbs thinner but is it worth the risk?? |
+1 although 50 pounds. I was horrified to see my clothing size go up, up, up. PCOS, insulin resistance and peri have been a toxic combo. Keto (bummer) plus more regular exercise are helping me lose the weight, albeit slowly. Nearly halfway there! I'd rather eat keto for the rest of my life than take prescription medicine, especially since I had pancreatitis once already. A side benefit is that my chronic GI problems have subsided, which has been fantastic and helps everything. |
How did you get the prescription?? I am 2 inches shorter and that weight and nobody will give it to me!!I do the 14k walk-/bit also Solidcore, CrossFit, peloton, etc. |
I'm a DP but got the prescription through Revolution Medicine. They are local and I have to go to a few in person appointments but I actually find their nutrition counseling and weight appointments more helpful than any of my other drs at this point. |
Thanks! So insurance I’m assuming doesn’t cover visit? What is the cost for a visit and will they prescribe glp-1 thru Lily direct? |
