Conservative Scott McConnell advises Vance to invoke 25th amendment

Anonymous
Neither impeachment nor the 25th is a very good strategy. Do that and again Trump can mobilize his troglodyte followers by portraying himself as a victim. Best to win the midterms decisively and use that to a tactical and strategic advantage.

LOL. This is not a conservative. Here is his posting:

"My advice to Vance: Announce your support of 25th amendment transition. Say Chris Murphy or similar will be veep. Announce you will NOT be a candidate in 2028. Use your position, access to the media to explain why this is necessary. Don't resign."

Chris Murphy? Really? Crazy Chris Murphy?

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha.

Getting rid of trump would make him solid gold with non MAGA Republicans. He will never have the MAGA idolatry but he would never have that even if trump endorsed and campaigned for him. The same for Rubio.

What happens if we invoke the 25th Amendment?
AI Overview
Invoking the 25th Amendment, specifically Section 4, initiates a constitutional process to temporarily or permanently transfer presidential power to the Vice President if the President is incapacitated or unfit. The Vice President and a majority of the Cabinet declare the President unable to serve, making the Vice President Acting President.

Key aspects of the 25th Amendment (Section 4) include:
Immediate Transfer of Power: Upon submitting a written declaration to Congress, the Vice President immediately becomes Acting President.
Presidential Challenge: If the President contests the declaration, they inform Congress.
Congressional Decision: Congress must decide the issue within 21 days, requiring a two-thirds vote in both houses to keep the Vice President in power. If they fail to do so, the President resumes their duties.
Voluntary Transfer (Section 3): The President can voluntarily declare themself unable to serve (e.g., for a medical procedure) and temporarily transfer power to the Vice President, resuming it later.

Historical Context: While Sections 1-3 have been used for appointments or temporary medical procedures (like under Presidents Reagan and Bush), Section 4—the removal clause—has never been invoked.

It is widely considered an "extraordinary remedy," with many legal scholars noting it is technically harder to use for removal than impeachment.

Sliding in via the 25th, fixing Trump's disasters, and running as the incumbent is his only chance at the Presidency. The Republicans have no chance in 2028 otherwise.

Impeachment after the midterm is probably more viable. But that will still require 15-20 Republican senators to vote to convict. Hard to see that happening. But after November Trump is a dead weight on Republican prospects. So maybe if the war on Iran goes disastrously wrong. It's still very unlikely.

In an ideal world, the deeply unpopular, rapidly declining geriatric Joe Biden wouldn't have run for reelection and gifted the election to Trump. But here we are. As Obama said, elections have consequences.

if the senators that are up in 2028 want any chance of re-election, they will vote to remove. As it is, there is a decent chance the Dems could take the senate this fall, and assuming an actual transition and swearing in, then your number is accurate. 67 senators would be needed, so are there others who would do the right thing?

How would using legal framework set forth by the 25th Amendment be treason? You must be MAGA as you have poor critical thinking skills.

Trump chose his cabinet for the precise reason that they are unqualified for their jobs and their current gig is the most powerful one they will ever have, unless Trump promotes them. They will never kill the golden goose. To a person they lack moral principles. I’m hoping for Democrats to take the House in November. The earliest impeachment could be in January 2027.

The cabinet is currently tromping around in ill-fitting Florsheim shoes that they’re too afraid not to wear. The 25th will never happen.

This is a signal that there is a solid slice of conservatives that are considering a “break glass” moment. Trump has f’d up bigly with Iran. While MAGA is talking big about high gas prices being fine and dandy, and just temporary, the sugar high of owning the libs will pass quickly. As the weeks drag on and high prices (which were already escalating unsustainably) don’t abate, even Trump will lose popularity.
