Okay, but if their economy is supposedly doing better than the U.S., at least according to the media, I don’t get why they’d want to come here at all—given the current economic mess and high unemployment and underemployment for American NGs. Same with Indian students. Why? |
| Universities should require international students from China to deposit the full four years of tuition into an escrow account, retake the test in person at the university , proctored..not by a Chinese TA..when they arrive. If they can’t score within 50 points of their reported score then they forfeit the tuition dollars in escrow and get sent back home. |
Or have a SAT test day just for Chinese students so they can’t use leaked questions. |
| Does anyone know of American student going to china to study? Is that even a thing? |
I’m just repeating what the media—and trolls on social media—keep saying. |
This comes up a lot in Mandarin-speaking circles, and you can see it on school matriculation lists, where Chinese colleges show up. |
|
To be clear, it’s not just Chinese students. Just last year and the year before, I met American students in Germany, something MSNBC has also talked about.
Education is too expensive here. |
|
I saw saw some Chinese guy’s reel about how Chinese kids who can’t get into China’s top schools easily get into American top schools.
Buddy, is it because they cheat and copy other people’s work? Is that how they study here too? I’m weary of sending my kid to a college with a large Asian presence. |
Because it’s not open to all students. |
| The time zone cheating has been huge for years with Chinese American students in contact with friends in China to get SAT and AMC/AIME answers within the same day. This is why you are seeing a lot more perfect scores. |
Asian != Chinese |
It’s honestly annoying that we have to sit through all this virtue signaling on DCUM about how important tests and grades are supposed to be. I don’t get why anyone would want to ruin their own reputation and credibility like that. This just makes it harder to convince everyone grades are important |
NYU Shanghai, among others |
Because they have not been getting caught and their cheating is rewarded by college admissions. The families support thiis top 10 or bust. |
| Where do these cheaters who hired consultants to write their essays from scratch end up attending? I mean, those AOs like to say they want to read your true narrative in your own voice, no? |
