curious-what do you think is typical cost of a regular haircut?

it’s always interesting to me when people need to comment completely unhelpful things like this. I mean is it narcissism or what?

Hair Cuttery charges $40+ for a cut and blow dry. I just upgraded to a cute local salon and paid $65 plus tip for a cut and blow dry.

I was charged $120. And yes for a woman. Took her 10 minutes.

Did they wash your hair?

Yup. I have fairly short hair. maybe 15 minutes tops. the actual cutting probably took 2 minutes. it was literally a trim.

Price sounds in the range. I'm sure it took more than 2 mins. It's not their fault you have an easy cut. Trims are the same price.

you think $120 is in range for a trim? I get my hair trimmed sometimes at my kids barber while they are getting their hair done and it’s like $30.

$95 shampoo cut blow dry. I tip $25.
Simple bob, no layers.

Just paid $85 + tip for a wash, cut, blow dry and flat iron.

Outrageous! I would ask to see a breakdown of that price.

A trim requires the same level.of skill as having more cut off. Think of cutting wrapping paper. It doesn't matter how big or small you have to put in the same effort to get a straight cut.

She works for herself. I guess she can charge whatever she wants. But I won’t use her again obviously. And yeah I get that it’s an easy cut. I have gotten this same cut in many places and even in the nicest places haven’t been charged that much. But lesson learned.

That’s a normal price. Some stylists at the salon I go to charge $120-140. I go to someone cheaper but that’s not outside of the normal range

In DC I would guess min is $65 and max is $200+. Trim or cut. I switched from $145 to $95 and easier schedule to book, but now she is $115.

Normal for you, but not for most. I guess money is no object for you.

Short hair or a pixie? It matters.

I think $60-100+ with drying and styling. $200+ for a "curly cut" (ugh).

I had to search around for a more affordable stylist and found one who charges $40 for just the cut. I walk out with wet hair but since it's not straight, I'd rather air dry it and see how the cut looks anyway. She's very good for the price, it's hard to find someone who doesn't charge crazy prices for curly hair.

Way too much, because of the female tax.

Once I went to my husband's barber for a trim. It was $20. Now my husband trims it at home. And when I return to my hometown of Paris, in France, I can get a nice haircut with some layers for less than 50 euros at a local salon (not a fancy chain), next to my parents' condo.

I avoid the DC area salons like the plague because they don't cut well AND they charge too much!

No, it’s really not if you must know.
