Yes

Not a lawyer - how common is it for a SCOTUS to go against the opinion of lower courts when it was all unanimous decisions?

Why not?

No human being is illegal.

They usually don't even take up that kind of a case. This was orchestrated, outcome predetermined.

I don't see anyone using the word "illegal" but one of the privileges of citizenship is the right to vote. People who are not US citizens can vote in elections in their country of citizenship.

For example, there were huge lines to vote in El Salvador's recent election, in the DC area. Their government set up polling places so their citizens who lived here in the US could vote easily.

Are you out of your mind? Try that bs in any other county see what happens. America is the only county with open borders like that. Heck even go to Canada and over stay see what happens.

The issue is that people are being purged from the rolls based on suspicion, not proof, and proof has been provided that actual citizens are being purged. If you would be fine being turned away when you go to vote because someone was suspicious of your citizenship (but more realisitically suspicious that you'd vote for their less-preferred candidate), then that's an interesting position to take. If you are fine with it happening to other citizens because you're pretty sure you're not the targeted demographic, well, I've got a solid guess as to who you're voting for.

Look it up.

I don't think that noncitizens should be voting, but there's no evidence that noncitizens are voting. I do think that removing citizens from the voter rolls, something that has been shown to happen as part of this "purge", with no way for them to get things corrected before the election, during the 3 months before the election when the National Voter Registration Act clearly states changes to the rolls can't be made, is wrong.

Let me say that again

THEY SELECTED "I'M NOT A US CITIZEN" ON THE APPLICATION.

This is horrific
It sets the stage for more Republican cheating

It’s only 1600 votes however we are screwed that they took this now ugh

This has nothing to do with VA or its 1600 purged votes. Republicans know VA is solidly blue, and no change of voter rolls here will change that.

This is about setting a legal precedent to challenge the rolls in 7 swing states, and the corrupt SCOTUS just handed that to Republicans.

I don't understand why people like you or the one before think it's reasonable to be outraged without even learning what the issue is. I don't understand how people who fail to educate themselves on issues, feel the need to chime in.

The corruption on this court is so bad. Thomas and Kavanaugh at least should be impeached.

I think the risk of disenfranchising citizens with such a policy is far bigger than the risk of non-citizens voting. And we should err on the side of protecting the right of citizens to vote.

The way you look at the world is diseased. You are the problem with America.
