Are there brands for tween girls where the shorts aren't super short?

They will look very our place wearing longer shorts. Very. I don’t love it either, but that is 100% the style right now.

7th grade mom here too. Mine won’t even look at Old navy anymore. Clothes are the thing we argue about the most and it is truly exhausting.

She wanted to wear a tank top meant for the beach today with only a bra underneath and I said no and it set her off. Sorry, babe, that is always gonna be a hard no.

If anyone knows where I can find tank tops that aren’t too low and aren’t spaghetti straps and cover up side boob (and my kid is a well endowed C cup), pls do share your source.

Lululemon you can order the I seam inches. I ask my daughter to buy 4", many girls wear 2".

NP, thanks for this post and suggestions , my 11yo is stick thin and all legs too. She can barely fit in a 10/12 waist but 14/16 pant height is short. I did find some biker jean shorts at Kohls last year which hit mid thigh. I’ll be sure to try the other suggestions

Co-sign on Old Navy for my 12-year-old. They look enough in line with what other kids are wearing that my DS was into them but she didn't think they were too short (she thinks it's ridiculous that she can see other kids' buttcheek lines. Yeah, daughter!)

Depending on your kid's size, the Target Cat and Jack little kids brand has a more modest cut and I find thst the XL fits my older teen well.

Sometimes they have an XXL if you need more room

The control you want over your kids is crazy

Short shorts are in, just like tube tops, mini skirts, daisy dukes, low ride pants, etc.. were in when we were their age.

Did none of you play sports in high school? My field hockey, tennis, and cheer skirts were short. I'm 47, this isn't new. Teens wore boxer shorts to school and rolled over the waist band.

The short shorts they wear now are not new, they've been around at least a decade. But yes, buy your kid Bermuda shorts, or JAMS. You know they're only wearing them to school to satisfy you and changing at school.

OP here. I agree and my parents didn't let me wear those either. I argued but looking back now, I fully support.

Older girl had this thing when she was in 6th/7th grade wearing boys cargo pants (due to enjoying pockets) which I loved (as they were well covered and also cheaper) but now she wants to fit in more. And younger kid has always been more into trends.

Thanks to everyone who suggested different options. Looks like I will just have to buy a lot and return.

+100 Seriously, "who wears short shorts? we wear short shorts." This is nothing new.

Costco. Not kidding. The size small pack should fit. I wear. them under suit blazers and yes, they cover all the bra and side boob.

Just because it's not new doesn't mean we have to like it. And 10 years ago, even if there were people wearing short shorts, there were other options.. now it feels like there is nothing.
