Old Navy for my 13 year old.
But the girls I saw this week at the high school must be wearing those 2.5 inch Lulu shirts and about three sizes too small. They are up the butt crack and the bottom half of the butt cheek is showing. It looks so incredibly uncomfortable. I was hoping that trend would fade. Ick. |
But interestingly you are ok with corporations dictating what they should be wearing. |
But you won’t judge someone who says a girl should dress a certain way because that’s what boys like? |

Look for bermudas.
I swear there is a distinct correlation between shorty shorts and thigh thickness in the adult population. Wearing tight and revealing clothing doesn't make one look thinner or more fit. |
I’ll add that I found this blog post insightful. It addresses the attitudes of the likes of PP who thinks we are being prude.

American Eagle has cargo and bermuda shorts in 000, 00, and 0 if you have a tall and lanky long-legged child. Old Navy sometimes also works for us. |
Mine wears Levi’s denim shorts, I believe they have a mid thigh length, probably a 4-5 in inseam. |
Every bit of this. This is more about mom wanting her kid to be a tween. Also, my DD is 12 and just now able to fit into size 0 in adult clothes. |
+1 Middle-aged teens. |
Old Navy or Gap midi shorts. |
This thread makes me grateful that my kids schools have uniforms and dress codes.

Ughh…I was hoping this was a thread full of people offering suggestions, not lamenting the lack of fashionable shorts that aren’t super short.
My daughter is 13, and she isn’t comfortable with male attention or wearing super short shorts. At the same time, she does want to fit in with other girls. I’m fine with her wearing boys clothes, but other kids have asked her brother if DD is non-binary or trans, and she has never identified that way. I wish there was a good way to dress as a tween/teen girl without being sexy. |
