They aren’t “trendy,” but my 10 yo DD wears athletic shorts from the boys section. At least so far, she does not like the very short shorts— they aren’t very practical for playing, climbing trees, etc unless you want everyone to see your underwear.
I imagine teens care more about style. |
You saying she is a prostitute for wanting to wear trendy clothes is disgusting and psychotic. You are the issue Remember the 90’s with ultra low rise skinny flare jeans and crop camisole tank tops? How about the 80’s with Daisy dukes and leather mini skirts and skin tight shirts The 70’s with bra-less tub tops, super short athletic shorts and knee high socks Let girls wear what they want to wear. |
Time to go back to the elementary forum |
Sorry, my kid isn't dressing for your teen boy. -Puritan |
Urm, no. That's not it at all. Typically we tell our kids they have to be dressed appropriately for the weather, the situation, and how they want to present themselves to the world. And yeah, we have limits on how they're allowed to present themselves to the world while they're kids (oldest is a tween, so the limits will likely flex as they get older). They can eventually chose to keep or change those limits, and I will not think less of them if they change the limits unless they haven't thought through the why. |
Irrelevant. AGAIN! |
+1 |
I wish Jeff would separate the tweens and teens. I mean like why are parents of 9 and 10 year olds on this forum.
My kids are teens. They wear whatever they want. I don’t judge style, but I do judge people that call teens prostitutes for wearing short shorts. I bet they are the same ones saying my kids will be abstinent thru college lol |
It’s not the mother it might be a judgmental teacher or instructor of an activity. People judge on appearance. Not everyone but you never know who will. |
J.Crew has a variety of options with a 4” inseam, denim and chinos. And some 3” that might be worth a try, depending on your daughter’s height. |
I got some shorts at Target for my 11 year old that were a good length - not too long and not too short. Search for the paper bag shorts. |
I mean like, because that's what a tween is, like omg. You're so, like, sus. |
Like, no!!!! OP's daughters are 11 and 13. The tween parents have kids closer in age to her younger daughter than you do. |
I'm not having this problem, OP. Girl shorts are definitely shorter than boy shirts, but I think boy shorts hang too low and are ugly. We've had no problem finding appropriate length shorts for my daughters. They do have some very short ones, and we talked about only wearing them at home/on weekends which they're ok with. Maybe your girls just have really long legs? |
