SYC to GA "2"

My kid didn't make it to the tryouts and still received an offer to come back for additional trials

Assuming it's the best offer you get, what about RL is not worth it?

Take her somewhere where the development is there and she is their first choice not second

Nothing happened to the original thread. Tell us all you've never used a discussion forum without telling us you've never used a discussion forum before.

Threads only stay on the first page when posts are actually being made. The currency of the post is what ranks post. As new threads are made or discussed more, threads drop down the page and ultimately get moved to "page 2" and beyond as discussions get added.

You can find your "SYC to GA" thread on here on page 2.

Sorry to burst anyone's bubble for thinking SYC is being shadow banned but the truth is worse than that, the discussion wasn't no longer generating interest and simply dropped of the top page due to inactivity which translates loosely to "nobody cares"

Nice try, there were multiple SYC threads you found the one nobody responded to since 2/25, they've had two IDs since then

They get deleted, just as this one should be when the thread redundant.

The thread dropped to page two due to inactivity. That's how it works as you noted in the bolded above. If nobody posts it drops.

Making a new thread with the same title will get deleted.

Again, show us you've never used a web forum before.

My daughter was at the invite-only session last night. She said the kids were told about GA and GA2 teams and that they would practice together, etc.

No there were comments on there last night. It looks like comments going back to 2/25 were deleted and page is now back up.

GA2 is marketing, pure and simple. If the club thought you were good enough to play on their GA team they’d give you an offer for that team. “Dual-roster”, “development player”, “GA2”, etc. is all designed to make the second team sound better than it is and to keep you (and your money) from going somewhere else. “You’re not quite ready for ECNL/GA yet but we definitely see your potential, etc., etc.”. Do kids ever move up from the second team to the to team? Sure but you’ll find that it’s much more common that players find themselves “stuck” on the second team and hearing the same promises year after year. All the big clubs do it. And remember, next year is going to be a whole new set of tryouts and you don’t know who will show up. But you can be certain that almost every coach is going to take a player from another club’s ECNL/GA team before they bring up a player from their own second team. One of my kids is playing D3 college ball now and the other is U-17 this year. I can’t tell you the number of people we’ve know that this happened to at virtually every large club in NoVA. At the end of the day, though, you’ve gotta do what you think is best for your child and as long as you understand how these situations frequently work out, then there’s nothing wrong with choosing an offer like this is you think it’s the right fit for your DC.

All this is marketing to fair, so here is a real take to help you choose. GA 2 lesser of two evils vs. RL becuase you are actually in the Academy and treated as such in GA not just at the club playing RL. RL players round here are not inluded in anything other than Super Y with first teams

Depends on the club, but a minimum practicing with first team, and opportunities to be dually rostered to get minutes on other teams at the club are two common things. The emphasis on development for girls is huge hence the name, so that in its own right is appealing to some families. ECNL clubs get defensive around the D word, becuase they have so much talent and win games so clearly they are developing players for college, so just be aware of the spin becuase development has no end and GA is good about putting players in that mindset.

What league do you play your “GA2” games in?

How does a league do that? A league is a collection of clubs.. every league has teams that play great soccer, and teams that don't. That is club philosophy, not a league. Both leagues seem to have some really strong Kool-Aid that skips over facts for fun.

Find the best coach that coaches in ECNL or GA and go there and try to make the team if you can. There is a much larger pooling of the countries top clubs in ECNl, but both leagues provide everything you need to get to college and beyond.

There is literally a league for RL players, it is called ECRL. There is no such thing as "GA 2"
