This is exactly right. There is no such thing as GA2. It’s a disingenuous name that GA clubs are giving to their second teams to make it sound better than it really is. Players and parents who don’t know any better assume that it is part of the GA or has some association with the GA which is untrue. Yes, a club can choose to practice their GA and “GA2” teams together. And yes, they may even tell you that they’re going to add you to the GA roster which might even be true in some cases. Remember, the max GA team roster size is 30 but only 18 players can play in a game. If you just like saying “my DD plays on a GA2 team”, then more power to you. This is exactly what the clubs are hoping for. But just know what you’re really getting before you accept a “GA2” offer.

Its national league so not GA 2, its just a way to understand that its the second team. DPL might come and replace National league someday so GA 2 is just a space holder for 2nd team, and yes many may end up being rostered on GA 1st team, or replaced by new players, but either way they are in the Girls Academy and practice is a given at least once a week together as an age group.

This only happens for an RL player over the summer in Super Y, or a one-off situation when NL team has injuries. The RL players are certainly NEVER practicing together with NL otherwise. Remember GA is about development at all costs and ECNL is about winning at all costs.

Wait, so the 2012G SYC top team has been practicing with the pool of players from SYC's other 2012 teams? Doubt it.

Yeah genius they are u-12 now so no GA yet, nice try McBrave dad, mind your own house

GA2 is marketing, pure and simple. If the club thought you were good enough to play on their GA team they’d give you an offer for that team. “Dual-roster”, “development player”, “GA2”, etc. is all designed to make the second team sound better than it is and to keep you (and your money) from going somewhere else. “You’re not quite ready for ECNL/GA yet but we definitely see your potential, etc., etc.”. Do kids ever move up from the second team to the to team? Sure but you’ll find that it’s much more common that players find themselves “stuck” on the second team and hearing the same promises year after year. All the big clubs do it. And remember, next year is going to be a whole new set of tryouts and you don’t know who will show up. But you can be certain that almost every coach is going to take a player from another club’s ECNL/GA team before they bring up a player from their own second team. One of my kids is playing D3 college ball now and the other is U-17 this year. I can’t tell you the number of people we’ve know that this happened to at virtually every large club in NoVA. At the end of the day, though, you’ve gotta do what you think is best for your child and as long as you understand how these situations frequently work out, then there’s nothing wrong with choosing an offer like this is you think it’s the right fit for your DC.

All this is marketing to fair, so here is a real take to help you choose. GA 2 lesser of two evils vs. RL becuase you are actually in the Academy and treated as such in GA not just at the club playing RL. RL players round here are not inluded in anything other than Super Y with first teams

There is literally a league for RL players, it is called ECRL. There is no such thing as "GA 2"

What if it just hasn't been announced? You think if they were planning such league that they would come out and announce it while ID sessions are going on in order to get players to stay.

Is everything with SYC GA Dad a world of “what if”?

What if McBunions had a coaching slate and ID sessions scheduled on the last day of Feb?

Can you explain what “they are in the Girls Academy” means?

It means the team plays in girlsacademyleague.com. There is a league and tournaments.

Ummm no GA2 teams do not play in Girls Academy League. There are only a select few clubs who have 2 teams in Girls Academy and one was just poached by ECNL. If this is what you think you will be highly disappointed come fall.

It's "breath." "Breathe" the act of respiration. You are welcome.

SYC is about winning at all costs for the top team. They can’t develop anyone from the other teams well enough to promote them to the top team they just try to pull from other clubs. Watch the 2012 roster. The added players to the top team will be from outside the club.

Yes OP we know Arl are just as guilty of poaching and not promoting. Next.

How odd, a post that reflected poorly on St. Arlington and it's beatified parents was removed so quickly. Everyone knows the glory hunters. Michael Keaton is the fashion icon for one dad.

I dont know that it was removed for that. It said syc arlington and mclean in one post and was very confusing

There is no GA 2. You’re just on the B team that isn’t ECNL or RL

No different than that there is no Pre-ECNL 2, queue in VSA, who fields Pre-ECNL 2 for NCSL. Lame.

If SYC doesn't do well in GA, they will be dropped out of the league in next few years.
