GA2 is marketing, pure and simple. If the club thought you were good enough to play on their GA team they’d give you an offer for that team.  “Dual-roster”, “development player”, “GA2”, etc. is all designed to make the second team sound better than it is and to keep you (and your money) from going somewhere else.  “You’re not quite ready for ECNL/GA yet but we definitely see your potential, etc., etc.”. Do kids ever move up from the second team to the to team?  Sure but you’ll find that it’s [u]much[/u] more common that players find themselves “stuck” on the second team and hearing the same promises year after year.  All the big clubs do it.  And remember, next year is going to be a whole new set of tryouts and you don’t know who will show up.  But you can be certain that almost every coach is going to take a player from another club’s ECNL/GA team before they bring up a player from their own second team. One of my kids is playing D3 college ball now and the other is U-17 this year. I can’t tell you the number of people we’ve know that this happened to at virtually every large club in NoVA.  At the end of the day, though, you’ve gotta do what you think is best for your child and as long as you understand how these situations frequently work out, then there’s nothing wrong with choosing an offer like this is you think it’s the right fit for your DC.[/quote]
