SYC to GA "2"

What happened to the original thread. It had some good info on it. How was turnout for yesterday's final ID session?

Wondering the same. The thread that was deleted was regarding the tryouts.

what happens if you accept an SYC offer, then go to ECNL ID sessions and they offer you as well and kid wants to join them instead? What would be the options?

Lose your deposit.
Or if they really want your kid, slow roll the offer

Would be better to just communicate that you're looking at SYC as a fall back and just be honest. Most of the GA programs currently have to realize that unless the parents are in the know and understand the differences and what they're getting themselves into, for the most part most players want to be on an ECNL team for whatever reason and don't actually think about the other stuff. Same thing happens in colleges and why the transfer portal is always moving, except here they expect commitments from families and a lot will accept an ECNL offer just because it's ECNL.

Slow roll - what does that mean? I'm new to all this, thanks!

Ask them for more time to decide

Tell them you have other options to consider and won't be able to accept/decline by whatever date they give you. They will either accept that or tell you the deadline is firm.

(They may press you to accept, but they are used to this and deal with it every year.)

I've accepted and paid the deposit. I'm ok with losing the deposit if the kid decides to join ECNL instead.

I'm thinking this is the move of many astute consumers. May I ask, what would you need to see from an ECNL club to move off of the SYC offer? Or, flip the question why did you try-out with SYC in the first place if you intended to try out for ECNL already?

Any offers for GA2 or any more info on it. That was something being discussed in prior thread that I was curious about. My DC didn't receive an offer for GA but received the email to come back later. Wondering if she should consider other options or try to make the second team?

I counted 20+ for each age group present when I was there, which is perfect for team building but not enough for a second team. So, I would say show up for tryouts later this spring, they probably want to pad the frst team with more offers given the ECNL IDs starting up tomorrow, and they will want a 2nd team as GA teams typically operate with two full rosters. Always keep your options open, and don't let these ENCL sheep make you believe RL is worth it, its just not around here sorry.

With the merges and coaching changes we decided to apply to multiple teams. SYC was just the first one on the list.

Thanks, appreciate the feedback. Honest question but do you think it's better to be on second team in GA playing National League EDP (as mentioned in old thread) then an ECNL RL team (that's where we are coming from)?
