Nothing happened to the original thread. Tell us all you've never used a discussion forum without telling us you've never used a discussion forum before.

Threads only stay on the first page when posts are actually being made. The currency of the post is what ranks post. As new threads are made or discussed more, threads drop down the page and ultimately get moved to "page 2" and beyond as discussions get added.

They get deleted, just as this one should be when the thread redundant.

The thread dropped to page two due to inactivity. That's how it works as you noted in the bolded above. If nobody posts it drops.

Making a new thread with the same title will get deleted.
