23:1 Intermittent fasting with keto. |
Fasting. Hope that your stomach shrinks and appetite disappears. |
10lb in 2 months is not hard, it's actually on the low end of how much someone would lose in 8 weeks if they cut their processed foods out of their diet, ate more protein, more veggies and salads, and cut out alcohol. |
+1. The only thing that works quickly. It’s not easy to truly be super low carb but you’ll feel great after the first ten days or so. |
I actually never do. I'm your height and am basically a thin person -- I'm almost always around 125 and am 5'6". Early in the pandemic I packed on an extra 10 pounds and in December I honestly just severely reduced my diet for a week and the weight was gone, and has not returned. I do also exercise often. |
Echoing the others, add keto and keep up the IF. It’s hard to do eating out, but get protein and veggies.
It takes commitment and focus to truly get the carbs down that far. Be prepared to handle cravings by distracting yourself with extra water, or gum, whatever works for you! |
I do think that reducing your caloric intake drastically is the best bet. It is hard initially but once you feel the results you’ll be able to keep it up. But you do need to keep it up. Also, I think you have to lean heavily into the veggies (especially leafy greens) and fruits, with some protein but not a ton. We all drastically overestimate how much protein we need. |
I did this same weight loss in about the same amount of time. I stopped drinking (mostly) and ran slow (4.5-5mph) for 5 miles per day every day. I work from home so I could do a mile or whatever then go do work to break it up. I am 5’6 and went from low 150s to mid 130s in about six months, but dropped the first 10 lbs relatively quickly. I look totally different and went from an 8 to a 4\6. |
PP here. Also, you will definitely need to cut out desserts/ sweets and breads / crackers etc even though you don’t need to cut out all carbs (some rice etc is fine). It is tough but you can do it!! I am in the midst of this (coupled with moderate exercise) and it is definitely tough but am working on it. |
^sorry I was the poster at 15:41 but someone else posted immediately below me so my sequence of posts is confusing. |
Not OP but have the OPs stats and goal. I gained 10 pounds over summer and my work clothes no longer fit. Need to wear them again!
FWIW, I have a disease, just got the right treatment for it so ate normally for the first time in a decade. Since I couldn't eat sometimes, I guess I guess I kept my weight down through accidental IF. I'll try that again. |
But you will gain it back and next time it will be harder to lose. Buy nice clothes and go as you are. You should only lose one or two pounds a week. Honestly, who are you trying to impress? Everyone gets older and abusing your body isnt good in the long term. |
December isnt that long ago. Unless you prepared to do this for rest of your life it will not work. |
They shouldn’t. And your body has to get used to it over time, so you need to titration up to an effective dose, which takes a minimum of three months— one at each of the first three doses, which are considered sub therapeutic. I found the first two to be the opposite of helpful. Appetite suppression and constipation for 3 days and then I was ravenous for the next 4. Plus finding the low doses is impossible right now. And starting at a high dose carries serious risks of nausea, vomiting, pancreatitis, gall stones.. No MD who knows what they are doing would start you at a therapeutic level. I’m 49 and even at a subtheraputic level, I was losing 8-10 lbs a month by doing 1200 calories a day, 40% protein, 100 oz of water, 120 minutes of strength training a week and three 45 minute cardio sessions. It’s a lot of salmon, chicken, low fat Greek yogurt, green veggies and protein drinks. Very boring and a commitment to find a way to eat grilled chicken or fish when you eat out. But it worked. That said, ai couldn’t have kept it going if the third month of Wegovy hadn’t finally helped with appetite suppression. |
Oh my god I could not agree more. |
