As in the leg would ride up? |
Thank YOU OP! I appreciate your inclusive response. PP |
You and your Normal Kamali acid wash jeans. Oh honey! |
I struggle with this too. I'm 5 ft 6 and a half and the ankle cut ends up a little short on me which doesn't matter much in warm weather, but is so annoying in cold weather. If I buy talls, the whole fit is off, having them hemmed isn't enough. If I do skinny with tall boots, apparently that's no longer stylish or screams millennial or something? I think I'm going to go back to the flare legs I wore in the 90s given they are supposedly in style anyway. Then you can wear pants down to your foot and also then not have weird amounts of boot shaft showing. |
But these look weirdly short with half the boot shaft visible? |
That's how they're supposed to look. You allow the thinnest part of your (booted) ankle show, which is more flattering. This look works best with sock boots that hug the leg. I don't care for it as much with the raw hem above because the white fringe visually interrupts the leg line but would be great with a finished hem. And for the PP who was worried how it looks when seated, a mid-shaft height boot will still cover your leg. I even wear knee boots under my straight legs sometimes, which is great when it's really cold. Because they're sock boots, they don't look bulky under my jeans. These are the ones I have: https://www.nordstrom.com/s/ella-stretch-knee-high-boot-women/7184152 |
| Some of you have no idea how anything works. If the jeans are loose, wear a form fitting sweater for balance. If the jeans are tight, wear a loose sweater. Try to always have the pants meet the shoe in a way that doesn’t show ankle. This isn’t rocket science. |
Try self tanner if you find your ankles this horrendous. Just swipe it on before bed |
| Do some of you actually wear boots from November thru March? Unless there is snow on the ground or sub zero, I prefer shoes. |
This. I was happy when we moved on from skinny jeans because I personally think it’s easier to balance proportions when your jeans are actual pants and not just glorified leggings. Skinny jeans look best with either a tall boot or a dainty flat. I can still wear flats with straight leg jeans, but now I feel like I have other options that look balanced with them: loafers, Chelsea’s, combat boots, sneakers, etc. I live in DC, which is only really cold enough that I don’t want to expose ankle for like two months of the year. I wear my Chelsea boots or hiking boots (depending on if I’m dressing up or down) those months. But then I can wear the same jeans the rest of the year with pretty much any of my shoes. Straight leg jeans are much more versatile than skinnies. |
Good for you? I love boots for colder weather and anything rainy or sloppy. |
I think this is a generational thing. I was born at the end of 1979 so sorta gen X, millennial, early 40s now. My DH would ask me where the flood is if I wore something like this. It just looks weird to me and makes people's legs look short. I prefer the flare leg jean look that cover the top of the food, perferably with a heeled boot. That was what was trendy when I was in college and given flare jeans are making a come back, I'll stick to that. |
I love boots. I wear them in summer too. |
Yes, I do this too! I think it looks cute to see a little bit of your socks. It adds another element to the outfit. I'm all for short jeans, socks and boots! |
I think they look great. I saw a woman wearing this look yesterday (I am in Florida so it's rarely cool enough for jeans and boots) and she looked very stylish, I thought. |
